1000 Ball Run

You like to manipulate conversations well
By your logic anyone who you deem better than Shaw at the high run can automatically do better at what Shaw did while never having done it, brilliant logic

the record now imo is so high that it takes a fairly fast player to be beat it. fedor plays slow because of his fundamentals and his scoliosis, i think it would be difficult for him, especially when you factor in all the attempts. filler could probably do it, he runs three digits daily on a tight gabriels table and is as crazy as jayson

I didn’t know fedor had that but if he does then yeah,
Shaw said his back hurt so bad after the 714 that he spent a lot of time in bed, think several days to recover.

And it’s often been said that you have to be in a faster pace to get there.

I've watched the three of them play a lot more than Mark Wilson has. Not saying he's wrong, but he's got much less data than I have to make the judgement. If someone had to run a rack of nine ball of average difficulty and my life was riding on it, Shaw would be my third choice, behind the other two.

Obviously, these comparisons are not so easy when each is a stone-cold killer.
I guess I kinda opened a can of worms here on who is the straightest shooter. It is an opinion based on facts and I wouldn't disagree with Stu or Mark, as you both have seen them a lot more than I have. My question for you Stu, who is the best long distance shooter? Do you still go with Fedor? I've seen Filler spear some long ones very consistently.

I'm experiencing quite a bit back pain recently. I'm wondering if it is pool related. I had a normal life I guess, sports when I was younger and an office job mostly sitting in a chair. Played pool a lot over the years. Any of the old timers here have a lot of back pain and think it was related to pool?

This seems like not a worth while debate ... So we find who is the straightest shooter ... What do we do with that information .. who cares???

Fedor stated in a live stream that he had degenerative disk disease, not scoliosis. Don't know where people keep getting scoliosis.

I have had a lot of back trouble but I have always figured it was in spite of pool rather than because of it. As long as you don't try to start from zero to all day sessions I think the bending and walking is probably good for your back. Bad knees tend to run in the family and in my teens I thought some insane level knee pain was going to stop my play. A few years of some isolated bouts and the knee pain went away, never to return.

You might have a point there, Jason. Filler's long pocketing is pretty mind-blowing.

As the one pocket gurus have pointed out, both Josh and Fedor are shooting long shots that nobody ever used to play in the past at one pocket. Both had a top three this year at the Derby City 1-pocket. Their confidence in long pocketing is remarkable.

Still, Texas Carom is right, for Shaw is squarely in the conversation with them, even in long pocketing. Oddly enough, although Gorst and Filler both have a Derby City bank pool title and Shaw does not, I think Jayson banks balls at least as well as either. All three are in the conversation for straightest shooter ever, along with the guy Nick Varner has suggested may have been the straightest ever shooter, Luther Lassiter. I just haven't seen enough of Lassiter to have an opinion (although there are some on AZB that have). On the other hand, I've watched Filler, Gorst, and Shaw for the length of their careers, and they are still wowing me.

Almost nobody has seen more of Shaw than I, for I was watching him even in his Predator Tour and Joss Tour days when he first moved to the United States. I have watched him play live all over America and also numerous times in Europe for nearly twenty years. He's a pleasure to watch.

The bottom line about Fedor, Josh and Jayson is that I count my lucky stars that I so often have the privilege of beholding their greatness.

I never lost to Filler :)
Well... That was a joke..

Of course i have lost to Filler hahaha

Jokes aside. That’s almost true.

I was on practice table at Spanish Open and Filler came to play and i ran out 3 racks vs him. Then came 2 Croatian guys and we started play scotch doubles and I was pairing Filler and we ran 2 or 3 racks vs them.
But next day I played one more rack vs Filler and he ran out. Should not play anymore vs him so I could say that "i never lost to Filler" :)

These demo runs don't mean squat to me. Runs IN COMPETITION are all that matter.
I agree…..Daz running 200 to skunk Busty is my favorite high run….at 199, he could still lose.…
lt‘s the difference of walking on a sidewalk or a tightrope.
……the old timers had chances to beat 200….they played some 1,000 point matches.

I belive the 1000 point matches consisted of multiple races to 150?
