Like you, I want to find a young American cueist to get excited about. As a result of what I saw from Lazaro Martinez at the International and Hayden Ernst at the Derby City Classic, I remain hopeful.

Of course, if Matchroom and Team USA captains continues to disfavor young American players and keep them out of the Mosconi Cup, as they did with Lucas Fracasso Verner in 2025, young American cueists will not develop as well as their counterparts on Team Europe at the Mosconi Cup or Team Asian at the Reyes Cup.

It's a given that someone will be 1000. There is rate creep inherent in it. Filler, Shane, Fedor, etc, aren't playing better than they did when they were barely in the 800's. It has to do with more higher rated players that they're playing against.

Much truth here, but this was taken into account when I predicted that 1,000 will happen.

The evidence suggests all three are playing better.

No idea who plays Ultimate Pool, but I see some promise in all of Sam Henderson, Eric Roberts, Nathan Childress, Payne McBride and Landon Hollingsworth, as well as the aforementioned Lazaro Martinez and Hayden Ernst. Along with Lucas Fracasso Verner, these are the young guns that might make Team USA at the Mosconi before their careers are over. I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I've seen play.

It's expected that the top players will improve in absolute terms when there is so much pressure from below. I think the great increase in pro events contributes to that.

As for a 1000 (relative to the scale today), that would be quite remarkable. Five-packs in nearly every match?
