I understand your point and like I said in my first post I completely agree. But then again how many people do you think played with Bushka's and Szamboti's back in the day? The cue was beat up and now they wish they would have kept it nice.

I am partial here as one side says screw it, it's the best cue I ever played with and it hits so damn good. Then the other side of me says keep it in good shape as it is a great investment.

John

John,

"Back in the day", guys who had Bushkas and Szams definitely played with them. All the time! These cues were made for players to be played with. No one knew then how valuable they would later become. Although they were high end cues back then, you could buy one in the $250-500 range fairly easily. If I would have had any idea, I would have bought dozens of them and just hung onto them.

But I was like everybody else, more interested in investing my money in the next pool game. :D

JAY.

side note there is a guy i see almost daily that player with a Richard Black worth over 5K. It is his only Cue, and he occassionally goest to BAD Phoenix with it to play 3 Cushion at Lucky Q.

it depends imo, if i had the dough for a 2500 dollar everyday player, then yes, because i obviously have the money for my collectibles. cues are art just as a painting in my opinion. so could go both ways, depending on income and how many cues you have.

Because that is when I come home from Afghanistan for a short two week vacation. At that time my entire collection will be for sale. When I return for good I want to get back into playing and be done with collecting. Thanks for asking buddy ;)

Well, Bob Jewett still plays with his superduper Balabushka. And, by the way, a funny thing with this was when he recently racked (after I ran a table on him ;^) and I threw a few balls straight into his cue that was lying on the table. Instead of getting upset, Bob, in his usual collected manner, said; "You know Peer, some people would be quite upset if you did that to their cue." Of course, in my oblivious mind, I asked why he wouldn't then give me a black eye since this was a Balabushka. Bob replied; "To me it's just a piece of wood... although quite useful."

Hell yes ya play with em. In that range, you're not really talking about a museum piece, rather a very nice cue to be used. The cuemakers I've talked to all take big pride in their methods. Playability is one of the things they all pay attention to. It is functional art. Use it!

I cannt see buying a cue & not playing with it! Just as well invest the $2500 in bonds, stock, mutual ect. As we speak now a market more conservative as the times are bad.Buy them play with them, were all here for a very short time so enjoy your custom cue!

Generally the only things that increase tremendously are things that are not being collected by everyone. Remember those stupid little stuffed toys everyone was collecting-Ferbies or some crap like that. I know a girl who must have spent $4k on them. 10 years later she got like $150 for the whole box.

Don't know buddy. I am no longer in the military (used to be). I work for the Army as a contract firefighter. I'll stay here until I get a job back home.

Thanks, John

Firefighting jobs are tough, here is the Valley you have 3 slots open, and 500 applicants.

Think Law Enforcement, as the Jobs are many, and you needc only pick a place you want to live, and work if you quality.

I keep trying to tell you, Bob Jewett is really Teller (from Penn and Teller) moonlighting as a pool player, just so he has somewhere he can use his voice. :)

I understand your point here but "Ferbies" cannot possibly be compared to high dollar pool cues. If you buy the right cue(s) you will never lose. No matter what shape the market is in.

Thanks, John

I just gotta tell you, that's what they told me about Real Estate- Afterall, "they aren't making any more". How many times you heard that? A lot of people are suckin wind right now because they bought into that line. Nothing is a lock.

More people now are caling for deflation than inflation. Bulk Shipping rates are down 90% since last summer and there are 3x as many ships being built now (drydock comng up) because everyone knows CHINA CHINA CHINA. Everyone was wrong!

I would if:

I can perform and like the hit of the stick.

I was in a place that it would be safe to play with a stick worth that much.

I was in an area that my stick would not get damaged.
