178 k total purse with 50k added with 256 players at the U.S. Open. I wonder what it really will be with what looks like less than 200 players? Johnnyt

Since when did all that matter?? It's never htere any way/

I'm pretty sure no player want to get stiffed for their winnings if they cash in the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship.

Bonus Ball, requiring players to be in Vegas on November 2nd to collect funds for services previously rendered, as well as dancing like monkeys for a few weeks thereafter, has once again hurt American pool. Most pool players cannot afford to attend both. If given a choice between Bonus Ball, collecting what's owed and hopefully collecting funds for mandatory appearances on November 2nd, the Bonus Ball pool players will probably choose Bonus Ball, not because they like Bonus Ball, though. It is because they need the money because of the financial straits Bonus Ball put them in by nonpayment.

Furthermore, I believe some players may not deem monies won at the U.S. Open 9-Ball Champion as important as winning the title. The title on a pool player's portfolio is worth more than 1st place prize at the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship to some players. IOW, tin cups with championship titles attached are sought after by all professional pool players.

Maybe that is true, in the past.

But to me, the DCC has eclipsed the US Open.

Two different animals, at least to me. DCC is a pool mecca geared towards players of all caliber, i.e., multiple tournaments, buybacks, action room, et cetera.

U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship is geared towards the best of the best.

Gotta love it lets not send the checks to the players before the new
Start date. Let's make them incur the expense to come out collect there checks that's well over due, hopefully they don't bounce. What's the over/ under in weeks before it fails again or the first check bounces.

Dennis runner up last yr, but didn't enter this yr... He has no ties with BB either.

Thiis shld be a no brainer. Mark Griffin is know to do waht he sys he will do. Why ould the Dcc not be nimber 1 on anyoneslist?
U put the Apple on a stick and hold it in fron of the Donkey, he will follow but eventually cnat suriviveone more broken heart and jusst gives up. What is more deprssing to wirness.
I would love to mark and CSI take over the US OPEN. I think it wuod be the greatest thing to happen in Pool at this time.

The US Open would also likely get a much stronger field in Vegas or Cali. You know what it's like for Asians flying to Norfolk?. It's probably 4 flights for most of them and 30 hrs + of torture.

The crowd however would probably be halved in Vegas or Cali.

Warren flew 14 hours from Manila to L.A., spent the night at my house and flew another 6 hours today to get to Norfolk, changing planes in St. Louis. And that's the short way!
This does not count travel time to and from the airports, or the wait time for each flight and to pick up luggage afterward. Tack on another 8-10 hours and the 30 hour total is not far off. And that's one way!
