Amazing what you can find on Youtube. I just found this event listed as 1988 Vegas 9-Ball. It features Keith vs. Efren first and the winner played Earl for the title. Check it out. Pat Fleming and I co-directed this event. Also found the 1988 U.S. 9-Ball Championship, first match was Sigel (chirping all the way!) vs. David Howard (with Buddy on deck and Earl to come!) and I'm the ref, lol. There's some classic stuff on Youtube. You'll see a lot of top name players from that era watching from the sidelines. I saw teenagers Dennis Hatch and Johnny Archer sweating it. Others were Balukas, Lebron, Rempe, Roberts, Davenport, my buddy Louie Lemke, Tommy Kennedy and you'll find more if you look carefully.

I loved the line where "the Miz" said Efren was playing with a $15 cue...retail. He said something like, "that will set the cue industry back a bit." Johnnyt

He said it was made in Taiwan and was incorrect. That was a Philippine made cue he used for the first 15 years over here.
 
I liked Jim Rempe's pre match analysis commenting on how everything was wrong with Efren's mechanics. :grin-square:

I got a cue made by the same cue maker....it is a plain Jane but it is a good cue....
....about 45 years old, but still straight,
it aint no $15 cue, it just looks like one
 
Mizerak gives Earl the edge on breaking in the beginning, then after Keith gets down to last couple of balls in first game,says" you remember igave Mcready the edge in breaking right? Thompkins says "yeah".
