hey

super looking new eight point!
thought this would be the third eight point, steve!?
nice intricate design and execution by joel!

Jeff, he has one other but its in his wifes collection....so as for the public I do have the only 2. The new design is quit a move into a different direction. This will certainly open the door for Joel to step through and start branching out into new designs. He certainly has the skill, the flair, and love of new things to take his cuemaking to even greater heights......

The last few cues I have seen from Joel are cutting edge design and execution excellence... this cue evens steps it up to another level. Mesmerizing cue Steve.

beautiful, and at the same time it looks like it could chop heads off, a real battle axe

Off with their heads Joel, lol

Hey Steve,
Your cue came out beautiful!!!!!!
When Joel told me has was going to start incorporating Silver and Gold into designs, I couldn't wait to start seeing them. I think he did a wonderful job on your cue.
My cue will be done in Janurary, now I'm all jacked up..
Best,
Ken Kerner

Its become rather clear that Joel has moved up another notch in cuemaking. I cant wait to see what he has for you.....good luck Ken

wowwwww....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just when I think you've gotten over making me jealous with some of those incredible works of art, you find a way to add another one that surpasses them all! I'm in awe right now....THAT's probably the most most perfect example of Joel's work E-V-E-R!:grin-square:
The first I've seen in a loong time that looks better than Fast and Loose's signature!
Now THAT'S impressive!

I am soo excited to know that this cue, will be in the family for a long time. And I know that makes him feel as good....thanks again Joel

Thats the magic word "Family", I have cues that are family, they have been with me 20+ years, thick and thin times they awalys make me happy, thats the real important issue about cue collection IMO, is how much you enjoy each and every cue. I have some cues that I wont ever sell no matter what, they are family. I have a few cues I'd like to trade/sell perhaps 10% of my collection isnt family-I just own them.

Thats why I say it over and over-collecting isnt a competition. I love to see your new cues Steve, I know the joy they bring you. I enjoy my friends cues as much as my own sometimes. The only difference is who's safe they are in at night. I can go visit the cue anytime I want.

I made a post today and I'm gonna repete it here. When I see a collection I wonder that the first cue and most receent cue in the collection is, and what was the reason for the aqusation of the cue, The "Family" cues or. Its the same when I look over my collection I remember when I bought them, why, and seeing those cues takes me back in time in my pool life, I really like to look at my retired players, and think of the action I was in using them etc. I like to look at other peoples collections and ask myself the same questions about their collection. Thats why I love all collections big and small, size dosent matter(I been saying that for years now)

Enjoy your cues Steve, I'm triple happy for you. I know you enjoy sharing them and I appericate each and every picture you take. Our collections have about the same number of cues-yours are fancier tham mine. I'm into hardcore player cues, I'm a player first, cue collector second. So I built my collection based on player cues probably 70%, and 30% monsters. I just dont like posting pics of them, I will share some of them from time to time.

Sorry for the long post, I was just in the mood to type,

best
eric

no were not realted like that, LOL. Whats cool about cue collecting as opposed to stamp collecting is you can use what you collect(90%) of the time, you cant use a stamp that you just paid 25 grand for to mail a post card, same with coin collecting-you going to spend a 1935S quarter that you just paid $400 for in a condom machine at the local bar??? you cant

But with cues you can grab 90% of them and play with them and get to know them better, sadly I had to dump a few cues because after the way they played i couldnt stand to look at them anymore. If A cue dosent play good it dosent stay in my collection, and most of my cues are player cues anyways. and that leads me to another point.

I awalys was attracted to fancy cues to own but not play with, I have awalys pefered to play with a player plan jane cue. So a few years ago when I decided to make some big cue purchases(i sold the watches) I bought what I liked, I fell into one deal with 8 or 9 fancy cues. I never realized it until a month ago when for the first time I ever took all my cues out to look at(at the same time), most had a similar theme-players, not safe queens. I suppose being a player first, cue collector second that makes sence. So thats how the collection ended up the way it is. I look at each cue as a potential player before I buy(most of the time). But I never realized that about myself until a month ago.

So just by looking at my own wood pile I learned about me, funny how that works in life as you age. I'm playing with the fanciest cue I ever used as a player right now, I used 10-12 cues from my collection and ended up using the one that brought out the best in me. I put aside all senemental feelings so I could find the right cue to play with, I wish is wasnt fancy. I'm self concious with a cue like that. I love to own them but not as players. But for the first time I'm using a fancy cue to play with, if I find a plane Jane that serves me as good I'm switching.

ok enough of that mumbo jumbo, lets go buy some cues!!!!

hey

I just cant get over the design that Joel did on this cue. IMO it is just so tremendously different from what he has done before. I truly love all the Joel cues that I have...But this new one represents a new level that Joel has moved into with this type of design. I am convinced that we are going to be seeing fancier and even more intricate designs in the future. I am looking forward to it.

The unique part of all Joels cues is in the construction of them. He starts every cue with a full spliced blank..that he makes. if a cue is going to end up with an ebony forearm, it is cored and put on top of the 4 pointed blank. Any cue that comes out of Joels shop....if you bandsawed it in half (God forbid) you will see a four point full splice underneath. Its this kind of relentless adherence to how He feels his cues should be made, matched up with his incredible artistic skill and workmanship that makes Joels cues so valuable.

help

Okay...enough is enough. I cant stop pulling this bad boy out and just sit there staring at it........somebody must know a doctor that can help me with this "Geourgous Cue Mania"....................LOL
