2011 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Doesn't pay to be away from 14.1 forum

Oh my gosh, I'd been away from the 14.1 forum for a spell (not by choice), and what do I miss? Several folks breaking their high runs, including a 91 from Steve Kurtz and an 89 from Charlie Eames?!?

<...swift-kicking himself with steel-toed combat boots on...>

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!!

In awe,

Thanks much appreciated, though I didn't break my high run I am still on that quest. Though upping the ante on my run for the year feels pretty good considering the slump I had been in for quite a while, you never would of known though if you saw me today... Damn humidity made breakshots seem like you were trying to roll through a sponge !!!!

I am real proud of Charles most of all !!!!!

"Jesus Eddy!" @Marop Finally I ran something over a single rack, after struggling with shotmaking for quitea while. And now when I fought my way through two racks (finally!) I logged in thinking my 32 of today is my personal best for the year. But having looked at the list I realize I finished 4 balls short of that! Oh, I missed a ball (cb on the rail) and dealt with the rest of the rack after that, proceeding to make 11 balls more. So I dogged only two balls of 44 which is pretty good so I'm satisfied though regret I could have made it more.

I ran 103 yesterday. It felt especially good considering for the past couple months and a bit, I've been having a very difficult time running anything. My snooker has been great, but my straight pool game has been in the dumps. Even earlier in yesterdays session I ran a 26 and a 20 and most my other runs were 6's and 8's. I made a slight adjustment, loosened my grip, and proceeded to knock in the 103 balls. I missed a tough break shot.

I think mostly I let up on my concentration after hitting the 100 mark. I guess I felt like it was job done, rather than focuing on getting to say, 150 or even 200. Same thing happened earlier in the year, I wanted to run 100 for my girlfriend so much that when I did, I missed an easy shot after 101 balls.

21 Ball Run...

I got a rare chance to hit some balls at a friend's place on Sunday and managed a 21 ball run. This almost doubles my previous high this year of 12 (yay me). My goal this year is to at least double that run of 12, so hopefully I can do that with a little more playing time.

I just wish I could be more consistent. Of course, I could if I would practice more.

I did have runs of 15, 14, and 12, as well as a couple of 8's and 9's, so I guess it wasn't that bad.

had my high run for the year, a 58, on saturday. ended with a miss on a very makeable break shot

have been "filming" runs recently, but seem to be a bit camera shy. have several mid 40's and a couple of 50's to post, once i get the whole vimeo thing sorted out, but my higher runs (55, 56, 58) all came off camera

thanks, jim

Good shooting :)

Stop thinkin about your numbers- try to just think about your current rack. And always try to play the *right ball* and the right sequence. If you re continuesly thinkin about your current *score* you ll loose your focus for the important things! Just enjoy your game- do your plans-and keep shooting. Soon you will be in the 3rd rack :)
think in racks! Just do it :)

Last week was able to play 3 days in a row-just wanted to play with my new cue. Made 6 matches in 3 days with good runs:
1st day: 38, 47, 32 /2nd: 31, 69, 37 / 3rd: 41, 47, 32
Really satisfied without really practicing. Just won 3 out of 6- but important was that i just had fun and enjoyed it.

then same old story.....since then didn shoot one ball. Work and pool is a bad combination, lol^^

lg from overseas, and keep shooting guys,

Ingo

180!

By request, Kevin Clark asked me to submit that he ran 180 balls on June 22 at Cosmo's Billiards. That would be on a Diamond. Outstanding run, Kevin!

Hey Ron,

Sorry but the AZ 14.1 challenge is only for AZ Forum members... i am real regretful, because Kevin is a hell of a player and a real hell of a guy.... tell him to sign up !!!

Hey guys i've never posted on here but i frequent here a lot and want to thank everyone for the help with straight pool and the videos you all have posted... I finally beat my previous high run of 38 with a 55 a week or so ago... thanks for keeping straight pool alive :D

got back in the land of 30s with a run of 31, 5 balls short of my best for the year. And far from personal best... But finally felt peaceful and satisfied after "hitting the wall" for a couple of weeks
