2011 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Good work.

33 is a good number. It means you got on at least 2 break shots and were successful with them. (If someone runs 29, it could be because someone left him a 14 ball gift and he was able to run the next rack, the break ball and that's it; Anything over 29 shows you are getting to the next level.

Thanks, it was my first time getting into the 30s and doing the run made me feel that getting thru the 3rd rack is just around the corner :)

I'm slowly learning to just shoot balls and forget about what the run is until it's over.

congrats dapfish :)

just one advice- stop counting really each ball. most guys driving themselves crazy. just enjoy your game.
Just shoot your balls and count racks! take a coin and just put it under the rail at the diamond :) 1st diamond 1st rack, 2nd diamond...2nd rack and so on. So perhaps it helps you just to pay attention on the important part....to shoot your next ball my friend :)

3rd rack will be cleaned soon- keep shooting,

Banner day at the practice table today, beat the 12 ball ghost 5-2 (only had an hour and a half to play) and afterwards I ran 103. :)

Just checked the list, apparently I already ran 103 this year lol.

Thats Fantastic Cameron, if you had remembered you already had run 103 this year would you of played it any differently so you could of toppled it ?

Glad to hear that you hit the same number twice in one year...thats awesome !

It's hard to say, the run broke down primarily because I had to go to work so I just started playing very loose as I was happy with the 100. If I kept a consistent pace I probably could have gone through the rack and at least managed 112.

I wasn't too concerned though as I actually did run one other hundred that was more than 103.....I just don't know by how much. I couldn't remember how many balls I started with in the first rack, and I think I slept a rack but I can't be sure (I was texting throughout the first 50-60 balls). I never posted it as I don't know what the run was. My best guess was 115-120.

thats awesome...congrats again !!!!

hopefully soon i can get back to the hundreds...it's been way too long, but i am not stressing over it !!!

time to start pounding the slate and make it happen

My break shot was a little too straight and I couldn't get into the stack.

It's only one better than my old record but this is significant to me for two reasons.

1) I reached my previous best at my teacher's house and we spent time discussing each shot; this time I was alone in my basement.

2) My home table has a few obstructions (load-bearing posts and a staircase) so I can't let the cue ball get away from me.

It will be interesting to see where I'm at this time next year.

Congrats.

The next step is to get into that next rack a bit.

One practice technique is throwing out 4 balls or so, one of them a break, and practice getting the pattern right and making the break shot. That way when you get there during a game, you will be in familiar territory.

110

There is a good person here on the Forum that ran 110 (not me) and he tells me that he does not want to announce it b/e he does not have it recorded.
In my book, his word is enough. Come on, everyone now wants to know.

-_-

Mikey, tztz. :-)
on 26th on December i hit em. Felt great.

mikey: you owe me a drink now, lol^^

That s 2 drinks now from 2 good friends-lol ^^

During the 5th rack someone started playin on the table next to me-- and did finally the worst thing you could do in my near. Chalking like crazy- *quieeeek* ......if i hear something like this i could go crazy. From then my pace took a *bit* longer-lol. Think i went down on each shot then twice or three times including a 5 minutes break on the break at 96 and having a cigarette and a coffee.
Was a real challenging layout with the last 6 balls on that rack. unfortunatley cuetable.com is down since days. Have a foto of this layout (friend made this). I was really confused and was not able to create a constructive plan/pattern. At least it has shown, that playing without a real plan will end finally in a desaster-and it did -_-
I will upload in the next days a foto of these 6 *last balls* before the last break- and a diagram of it. Curious how other would have handled it. Furthermore i will upload drawings of the breakshots including the last 3 balls. Thx Daniel for noticing it and the idea of doing it while watching and rackin.

Congrats on the big run and thanks for a good idea! Food for thought chop-chop-chop...

Hussa,

ok-here is a link to the pdf-file. Hope it s readable and understandable.
showing the breakshot, the last 3 balls/pattern, and where teh cueball finally ended.

http://www.file-upload.net/download-3989964/110.pdf.html

At the end is a table shown up with 6 balls- interested how you would have played the pattern. Hard to see exactly- but cuetable.com is down :(

last 6

Awesome Ingo! 110! Congrats!
I would go for this end pattern. number 5 could be shot in the side or corner, a bit hard to tell from picture. sorry for the mess, different colors for each shot should make it readable.

Ingo:

I agree -- CONGRATULATIONS! Doesn't it feel great?

That diagram looks like a bunch of people were picking their nose, and wipe-cleaning their fingers on a CueTable napkin. :D J/K!

Dunno if I'm allows or not, but I just put together an 11 ball run... Considering I'm totally new to this game, I think that's pretty respectable. Although, it doesn't hold a candle to that 267 but I'm working on it, one game at a time!

If you re able to run 11, then you can run for sure also 14-
and who can make a rack, can also make 2 racks :)

no time for negatives Daz- keep shooting and grats:)
