2023 World Cup of Pool (WCOP) 27June-2July, Spain (Winner $60K per team)

Those sides are tight... and I play on a table with the tightest side pockets in town.

All tied up... maybe the break was good for Sky

Bad decision, poor execution.
If the US pulls this off, they didn't deserve it. Japan misses bih and Sky whacks at a bank or some low percentage BS and sells out. Japan on the hill.

She and SVB will both be eligible in 2024 for BCA of Hall of Fame induction. They are two of the greatest that ever played the game.
I remember her winning a lot of titles around 15 years ago, but then she seems to have disappeared from the pool scene

Didn't see that coming. Tough day for Team USA, the team I had claimed was "best on paper." Sky had a bad day, but Shane's miss at a fairly routine carom nine after Sky left him exactly where he requested on it was super-costly, too. Japan made some errors, too. Yoshioka put immense pressure on Oi with second rate position play, but Naoyuki came with most of the critical shots and he was the reason Japan pulled it out.

Sad for the Americans, but single elimination can be brutal.

I have to disagree on the carom. It just wasn't "on". He tried to throw it in, but there was no way to avoid hitting the 9 too full. I think the Ko bros. are going to win it

I agree that it was no hanger, but it was makeable. If Shane didn't think the carom was on, he would have asked Skyler for a position from which he could easily play safe, but he didn't. Either way you slice it, the error is on Shane, and it came at a huge moment.

I agree that was a tough carom on tight pockets, and I think he hit it as good as he possibly could with maximum spin to throw it.

Shane left Sky a considerably tougher shot than he had to on the 9-ball that Sky overcut. Just a really bad showing for our supposed top 2 players. Perhaps it’s time to give some of our newer younger players a shot in these events?
