titanium is lighter and would throw less than brass (less deflection). this matters mostly when using sidespin. for example long "shots to nothing" in the beginning of a frame when you want to go for a shot and go around the black and back to the kitchen. either way it's not something to experiment with in a WC semifinal 🤣
My take: any cue maker who let Ronnie out of his shop without making sure the ferrule would work for Ronnie's game made a big mistake. Maybe they did confirm it was OK.

Ronnie is known for using side spin where others do not, like on most of his safeties, so the deflection/squirt/throw-off is kind of important.

I feel like we are making excuses for Ronnie when he got pounded by someone in dead punch. He had more opportunities to work into rhythm in his earlier matches and was never really in this match.

He’s not just a ball-maker…..

My take is Ronnie is a perfectionist and the titanium ferrule wasn't to his standard. He knew his play was off so......

I saw an interview where he said he told the guy he snapped his cue and to send a few over in a cab. From the sound of it he sent 10 cues of varying specs.

It's interesting when young guns and/or unknown billiard players beat an aged champion. Zhao being 28 and Ronnie being 49, I'm quite sure Zhao wouldn't be able to keep up with a 28-year-old Ronnie O'Sullivan. I guess it irks me, just a little, to read all the accolades of a young gun winning against someone past their prime. It's fun to watch, of course.

That said, Ronnie was very gracious in defeat, and so was Zhao. It was a heartwarming to see them exchange pleasantries at the conclusion of the match.

It's not even Ronnie past his prime. If Ronnie could've played anywhere near as well as he did in his previous matches, the score might've been a lot closer. Zhao is playing well but continues to make unforced errors that his opponents haven't taken advantage of yet. I still feel good about my Judd bet.

i'm not sure zhao shouldn't be odds favorite. i thought he would nerve out like chinese players usually do. but he didn't, in a crucible semi final, against the GOAT. i think he'll keep doing the same in the final. would take an in form trump to stop him
