Schmidty just ran 226. His cat climbed into the side pocket of his Diamond table and ended up in the ball tray. He missed his next shot. Maybe the cat kept him from running 527. LOL

Let me be the first to say WOW, maybe mosconi embodied the kitten to screw up his chance at the run !!!!

That would be something that would only happen to me.

Nice shooting regardless
steve

tell me he has it on video as well, you need to post that up !!

dogged it. or catted it i guess

first off i want to say i think its great that all you guys on here try 14.1 .
honestly im jealous of the fact that in the old days the pros would come in and try too run a hundred and people would set and watch. the spectators would be appreciative of the skill and how tough the game is etc.
where i live nobody understands the game and if i walked in and ran 690 on the first try ,they would have no idea why i keep leaving the last ball out of the rack etc lol.

anyway i wish i could have everybody on this 14.1 forum come to a poolroom with a perfect playing loose table ,i would get a kick out of practicing in front of all you guys and trying to break mosconies record.
it would be very inspiring for me to try to do massive runs with a group like you people who know what your looking at .

about the 226 ,believe it or not i ran 172 3 days ago and tried 2 more innings with nothing to brag about.
today the 226 was on second try, 42 scratch ,226 miss.

so within 5 tries 172,226 on diamond ,im playing as good as ever .im happy about it because after the arm break i wasnt sure if id ever run 50 again.

you guys keep up the good runs im pulling for you,and marop is gonna get that hundred soon i know it.

p.s. at 197 i overcut break ball and it rattled but cb came off rack and knocked it it. so really the run should have ended at 196 but oh well ive had enough bad rolls a good rolls allright sometimes. also the cat sharked me crawling through the table lol.

What would you rather do John, shoot a 59 from the tips at golf or run a 527 on a 8 foot table with buckets?

Congrats John

Unbelievable. I can not even imagine running so many balls. You are truly gifted. Once again I say Congrats.

John:
i've done that before!

i can watch good straight pool player all day. now that i understand the game, i want to watch pros play even more so that i can learn from their patterns. before their choice of next shot was a mystery to me. can you share with us a few of your choice inner secrets? how you like to run the rack and what you look for in key balls et..... i'm also interested in your thought process as you line up a break-ball. sometimes on a long break-shot that i have to shoot really hard, i will just concentrate on the cue instead of the object ball. sometimes i aim my thin cut shots a tad thick and thin them out as i stroke through the ball. it works for me but i was wondering what works for you.

You need to get John's DVD "How I run 100's". He runs 164 while miked up and describes everything you mentioned as it is happening.

Johnny, congrats again.

just let me know when you wanna start going for the run in front of us all, and i will be right there with ya. i will even rack'em for ya !!!

and i am sure Marop & Charlie will be right the with the video and the colorful commentary !!!

always a true pleasure to watch you shoot!

I hear ya on how many ppl have no idea what you are playing. I either get that question, or hear "what is that guy playing" in the background every time I play 14.1. If I am at a table practicing I will play 14.1 at some point in that day. I have more appreciation for 14.1 than any other game that I play.

Maybe you'll do it on the Diamond at Derby for us later this month.

Great Shooting! You are certainly back from your injury, Baby.

That sounds like one of my break shots.:grin-square:

ill try

the derby challenge is even tougher, because bob uses the diamond rack . its thicker and cancels many bb. also the all ball fouls is brutal .its extremely rare to run 200 without slightly touching a ball. i touch them lightly practicing all the time, not enough to change anything but enough to foul.

then theres only having 12 tries and pressure etc.

ill do my best though. looking forward to seeing you guys.

I can't even emagine running that many balls. I get into the fortys and I feel like a hundred bucks.

Congrats on some great runs!

Andy

.its extremely rare to run 200 without slightly touching a ball. i touch them lightly practicing all the time, not enough to change anything but enough to foul.

that rule must be changed. if someone moves the balls to where it can effect the outcome of the game, THEN MAYBE they should call a foul but only if they can't be moved back to their orig position. unintentionally touching a ball should NEVER be a foul.

i have to disagree with that, touching another ball disturbs the overall outcome of the rack and should be a foul.

just my .02
Steve
