$300 cue, what would you buy?

I would avoid all LD production cues unless you already play them, as I think they are very low quality and that LD is not as game improving as people think, and the quality of the Predator shafts is just terrible. Deflection is not the only complicating factor in aim. and low deflection actually makes some shots harder from my experience.

Really, all LD shafts, like OB cues, and Tiger, etc? Sorry, but you have no clue what you're talking about.

And exactly how does using an LD shaft make it more difficult to play with ?? Yeah, it's horrible using English and the cueball stays closer, in some cases does not leave, the path to the object ball.

Yes, by all means, warn folks about this terrible injustice having an LD shaft can do to your game. geez ???

Hm, Jacoby just came out with a super simple cue for about $280 I saw on FB. I'd grab one of those, I like their cues. That or a Lucasi which I only recently tried but was super impressed with how it hit.

The four cues on the left....Joss made them for J&J....
,,,all are nder $300

If the place is to risky to crry your cue
what value do you place on your life?

this thread reaks of something

if i were afraid to take my lousey $500 cue for fear
i wouldn't risk going

I am not saying I never went to sleazy places to gamble
I just wasn't afraid of getting out with the money

stay away from new technology....If it was me i would throw my TV's and computers and stick to the good old radio and newspaper...I mean if its not broke don't fix it

Your Mcdermott Stinger is technically considered new technology lol...

I agree with Dean. If your used to your Schon, I'd just bring that. I go to bar league every week with anywhere from 1.5k to 5k of equipment, depending on which cue I want to shoot with each week. No fear that anything will happen. You would be surprised by how many people actually bring their "good" equipment with them.

Got back into league and playing more in general since retirement. Would like to find a $300 or less cue to carry in some of the, shall we say, "less than savory joints" as I'd rather not take my Schon to some places. I'd like to find something with a 5/16 x 14 pin so I could use my 314 shafts on it if I chose to. New or used, I don't care.

What would you be looking for to fit this bill?

Thanks

If you want a great bar room cue for under $300 with the 5/16x14 joint, then here is a great quality sneaky.

Perfect cue for the bar scene, I think.

I would go with a Cuetec R-360. I've had one since the year they came out. 1000's of hits and breaks with it and keeps on ticking. Johnnyt

I don't think 2-bit losers who will steal anything not nailed down in a dive bar means "murder" to most folks, just means folks are most prone to "losing" a cue or two.

And, in dive bars, not always worried about anyone stealing something, but in smaller places, filled with bangers, more likely to be an accident with your cue being bumped or actually used cause the person didn't know that SP was yours, and not a house cue !!!

I should have clarified, I'm not concerned so much about theft that I am with someone bumping into/knocking my cue on the floor and potentially popping off a tip or denting the shaft or forearm. I play in one very nice pool hall I have no problem taking my cue to, but in league, we do have to go to a few dives but that just goes with the territory.

I bought my SL-7 Schon new about 20 years ago and it's been my player ever since. I think I paid about $625 with two shafts back then. That's a low end cue to a lot of people but not to me. Maybe $625 cue 20 years ago might be a $1,000 cue today?

I would like to find a cheaper used Schon simply because the hit may be similar to my existing cue. I could get by with just the butt. I'll find something. Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas.
