While perusing the Brunswick website for centennial balls, I saw a cue tip costing $35.00 per tip. Does anyone know why this tip is so expensive? Can it outperform other quality tips like Sniper?

That's the tip that sticks it's tongue out at your opponents. :D

almost everything Brunswick makes or has made for the past two decades is overpriced garbage

even their GCIV was eclipsed years ago by competitors and the GCV doesn't seem any better

What about the Tip??

Have you tried the tip, or are you just assuming it is garbage. Just curious.

Thank you for the detailed and informative opinion, you've really provided us some useful information to base our purchases on.

brunswick makes a tip called blue diamond. they are very popular for snooker, a soft tip, not quite as soft as elkmaster. the price you see is for a box, not a single tip.

How are the gold crown IV & V's garbage? Just curious. I see plenty of GCIV's around, and they play pretty sweet if they are set up right. They are built like tanks. I agree it's overpriced if you pay retail, but who does.

Thanks for the edification.

I hate to be the bearer of this news, but I once ordered a box of Brunswick Blue Diamond tips and when I opened it up, guess what came out. The same little piece of paper that says Elk Master by Tweeten that comes inside most every box of Elk Master. So I asked the supplier about it and he said he was told the Blue Diamond was a select grade of Elk Master tips.

yeah i've heard this too. definitely they are made by tweeten, though i have never been able to find out if they are just selected elkmasters or not. the color of the tips are different, a darker blue, so some part of the process is different. but they are very similar though

I use that tip on one cue for one pocket. Good tip, not very available in the US, mostly UK. I got a couple from RON V., the guy who invented the rod jump cue and has a couple of books on aiming. A little better than the Elk Master.

Why one pocket? Is there an advantage for you in that game. Do you use it for other games? Or do you just play one pocket. I'm wondering because I'm looking for a tip for one pocket. thanks

one pocket is a soft shooting game, so many players like a soft tip to help with the finesse shots. i used blue diamond and elkmaster for snooker, but i prefer elkmaster. blue diamonds are hard to get in the US though. funny that they are a US product, but the best place to buy them is in the UK.
