5 Tables for a Big Tourney?

Thanks for trying B. Perm and I know you already gave yourself a head ache, but can you do over?

It's not completely even 4 days. Player's meeting is at 4 pm Thursday and matches will begin immediately after... So, we've lost about 7-8 playing hours...

S.G.

If Tim is right at he just posted, you will be able to do 170 matches during that time if you trim down Thursday....

Good luck.....not sure if I helped, but I tried

A little birdy told me that the host room is bringing at least one more table to insure the event runs smoothly. Additionally, that same birdy told me that ALL the tables will be recovered, re-leveled and re-shimmed to insure they all play the same.

I cannot divulge the birdy, but a call to host room might confirm this for those who are worried. (281) 821-4544.

Let Us Put Your Concerns To Rest

Bogies Billiards & Sports Bar, the Houston, Texas host room for the 2011 WPBA Regional Tour Championships, will be setting up more 9 foot gold crowns, as needed, for the event. All tables will be recovered with new Simonis, and re-leveled for this event. All pocket sizes will be the same.

Currently, we only have around 35 Regional Tour players that have rsvp'd, a few ranked players 41-64. WE WILL HAVE 6 TABLES FOR THIS EVENT IF NOT MORE.If there are more than 64 players in this event, there will be 2 more tables brought in. This is not a problem and can be accomplished anytime before the event.

The players' meeting was arranged the day of the event in order to save players money. It will be at 4pm on the 24th. Play will start at 5pm.

The WPBA runs 64 players, 4 days, with 6 or 8 tables. THE RTC WILL BE RUN VERY SIMILAR TO A WPBA EVENT. Match times will start at 9:30am with the last round no later than 12:30pm. Sometimes there are 8 tables at a pro event which allows later a. m. matches and earlier evening rounds.

If you have any questions about this event, please call me as my number and contact information are listed on the information sheet that was sent out to all invitees.

I look forward to seeing you in Houston. Travel safe.

Six tables will work for a 64 player field. You will need eight tables for a 90 player field. This is based on a four day event. And I'd still do a "shotgun" style or "roll on, roll off" to keep it moving. One short break per match, five minutes max. You can stipulate that both players must take their break at the same time, by mutual agreement. You will be busy!

That's great news.... nice to hear that plans are in place to make the event run well.

Thanks to Kim White for clarification! I had heard through the grapevine that more 9 footers would be brought into Bogies...but I didn't post because I wasn't sure. Now that Kim is confirming it...the decision should be clearer for the ladies invited.

Melinda - whatever your decision...I wish you the best of luck!!!!! (I hope you play though. The RTC is a cool experience!)

Melissa

Thanks, Kim for clarification. More tables and 'all same size pockets' are great news! It certainly puts my mind at ease.

I have already RSVP'ed and was going no matter what but was little concerned about possibly up to 93 players on 5 tables - 2 of them with tighter pockets.

Melinda - I hope you change your mind and play.

S.G.

It will be a great tournament for all that is there, get the word out there is a new game in town it is called pool, this will be great for the game in the state of texas !

If you can take the time off, why not go. It is a chance to earn a WPBA tour card. Those chances don't come around every day.

Take a shot at it. Just bring lots of down time materials so that you do not become pre-occupied with the waiting. The waiting is going to bother a large number of the players so you may actually be able to use it to your advantage if you are mentally ready to do so.

I really hope you decide to go. It would be amazing to see you on the WPBA tour next year.

Leagueguy

I appreciate the support, but I doubt I will go. Not because of the # of tables, tho.

It would be a cool experience as Melissa stated but I haven't been playing enough to think I can do well. This thread has reminded me of that.

My goal has never been to play on the pro tour anyway and I am not ashamed to say that I do not have the talent the other girls do. If I had been playing the last 6 months, I would prolly go, but I will save my vacation time and some money. Even though it's in my backyard, which pains even more to make this decision.

I am planning on playing the the big Ten Ball event here in Dallas in April against the pros tho. Excited to be on the invite list!

BTW, Kim White is one of the best Tournament Directors around and I know she will run a great event for everyone at the RTC. Kudos to Bogies for listening to the concerns!

awwwwwwww......

Just bustin' a little. It sounds like you've got a great handle on things. Plus, ya gotta focus on No Holes Barred, right?

I appreciated your comments! I just have to be realistic at this point and make different decisions about pool lately. Not complaining, just saying. My Mom being the hospital (I'm her caretaker) for over 90 days (she just got out Jan 7th) puts a dif perspective on everything right now.

I still have the pool bug - tho! No worries, there. :)

Glad I started the thread so you all could help me with my decision and also so we could find out that the concerns I had been hearing about are being addressed. I think it would have been worse if everyone showed up not knowing what was going on. And now there are plans in place and solutions to concerns, which I never doubted would happen. :)

WPBA RT Championships

It's going to be a great event. The reason it's going to be a great event is that the owner LOVES POOL and is willing to do whatever it takes to make the players happy. You won't find another like him. He has assured me that if we need more tables, we will have them. Remember, he produced the Galveston World Classic, so bringing in more tables, for him, is like pulling up an extra chair at the dinner table.

Additionally, other rooms weren't willing to add the kind of money he is adding. In these harsh economic times, we should all be thanking Bobby Rone for supporting pool and its players. I know I do.

The room has an airport all of 15 minutes away and a hotel less than 1 minute away. There are restaurants within safe walking distance of the room and there will be food served hot off the grill at Bogies. All pool time will be free for the girls, there will be water at all the tables, towels, no smoking allowed in the immediate seating area around the tables, and there will be 2 OFFICIAL BCA REFEREES; Rick Doner and Derrell Montgomery.

ADDITIONALLY, this tournament will be LIVE STREAMED thanks to Bobby Rone. This helps promote the game, the women, and their respective organizations.

I look forward to seeing all of the women in Houston March 24-27. If there is ANYTHING I can do for you, please call me at 713.825.1411.

Bogie's WPBA EVENT...

Bobby Rone - Owner Bogie's Billiards and Sports Bar

We at Bogie's are working hard with WPBA Youring Pro. Kim White-Newsome to make this event the GREATEST WPBA Event that Texas and Bogie's Billiards has ever Hosted.

Well great people of Bogies and those that will be, we just finish installing 3 additional 9 fts. Brunswick Gold Crowns, and they look great. Almost exact replicas of the 5, we already have. All tables will be recovered at the beginning or March, with new Simonis. We placed the 9ft. Gold Crowns Tables where the 8 ft. 7, 8, 9, were. That makes a grand total of 8, 9 Ft. Gold Crowns. This week we are working on getting a 10 by 5 Billiard Table and a 5 by10 Snooker Tables as well, both tables are very old and from the 1945. Hopefully by this weekend.....AND AGAIN THANKS TO ALL THAT SUPPORTS BOGIES BILLIARDS & SPORTS BAR.....281-821-4544

Play Pool

Bring a bunch of books to read, you'll need them!

Let's do some math here...

90 players.
First round would be 45 matches (I'm not going by actual tournament charts, but you get the drift)
5 tables, so, 45 matches would need 9 matches played on each table
Say, 45 minutes per match (with getting to table, lagging, reporting scores, etc)
So, 405 minutes (6h 45m) for FIRST round alone.

And that 45 minutes is generously short... Think about how often you have to wait for people to show up...

Freaking crazy!

You should read our new post..........
