5 Tables for a Big Tourney?

And chicks already play slow. So, 9 foot, race to 9... O M G!

Yeah, but if I said it I'd be "sexist" :)

Old people play slow too... So, what does that mean for how long old women take to play? :)

O M G!
I will second that (Trigger's comment) for bto

btoneill,

Once I played someone sooooo slow I did read 2 magazines during a match with HER!

My 2 Cents- I played a Joss Stop last year that had 5 tables with 48 people race to 9 - Started at 12:30 first round ended at 8:30 - They played down to the final 8 at 3:30 am

Longg day

If there aren't scheduled matches it would be a horrible experience. If they are scheduled it will be one step above horrible.

Without scheduled matches you could be sitting around waiting for 5-6 hours waiting on your match which would probably get into your head and set the bad mood for bad play.

5 tables

I just saw this.
Something just does not sound right.

This is real rough - but the idea is sound:::
90 players is approximately 189 matches.
5 tables means best case (before the finals) is about 38 rounds. (Handling the byes can also be confusing - especially to the players).

My guess of a race to 9/7 is going to average about 1-1/2 hours (maybe 2 hrs).

This means 57 to 76 hours of actual play - not counting for SLOW matches or waiting for players to show up OR that towards the end you cannot have all 5 tables in play.

What does that mean? 3 days at 24 hours a day is only 72 hours. My opinion is it cannot be done without 30 second shot clocks and a lot of FAST matches. My guess is that they will shorten the matche by at least 2 games - and that is not fair to the contestants. (and still be playing 18+ hours per day - I would expect a lot of forfeits).

To the players (women) there is a lot on line and this type of schedule is not a good criteria to determine who should play on the WPBA.

JMHO

wow...this is an insane schedule and expectation being placed on the participants.

First the Wpba was not going to have an RTC. After many complaints and wispers of lawyers they changed thier mind and said they would have one. Problem was they never said it would just be a circus tournament at best just say they had one. Johnnyt

5 tables

Everyone should applaud Bogie's in offering to promote women's pool. The Lone Star Tour site says they have 5 - 9' tables and 18 - 8' Gandy tables.

It seems most of Texas does not have many 9' tables. There is a room in Round Rock with 14 - 9' tables.

All I am saying is that don't bash the venue. Someone who makes decisions has not thought this through very well.

Maybe there is time to revisit and come up with a better solution?

I would be afraid that this type of controversy will cause some fo the women to not show up. That is the wrong direction for pool. We need to encourage players!!

Ahhh, ok. Why don't they use the 8 fts? Or do they still have them? I haven't been down to Bogies to play in like 5 years so I don't know what they've got there anymore.

WPBA Tour is played on 9 ft tables. It would be asinine to hold the qualifiers on 8 ft... I know it's only 1 ft difference, but I've seen people run a rack easy on 8' but would take 3 turns to run a rack on 9'.

Is indoor football still football?

I hope people didn't think I was bashing Bogies. No it wasn't that at all. We are grateful to have the RTC finally when we almost didn't get to have it at all. It's just that I don't know how they're going to run it on 5 tables when 93 players got invited :(

Just voicing concerns...

I didn't take any of the posts to be a blast at Bogies either. It's not their fault that 90+ people will be showing up to play on 5 tables! They are hosting the event, not running it...
