9-Ball The Movie trailer.

I could care less about this movie. If it helps get more people interested in pool, great. But I don't think it will.

I always try to find the good in anything. I hope the whole story line turns out well, the trailer wouldn't get me into the theater...

However, if they were trying to entice me into a brothel with that trailer... I might have gone when I was a younger man...

I noticed Jeanette Lee has the top billing now and JB comes 2nd. Jeanette's name would be more reconized by mainstream, but me thinks APA is the MAIN angel ($$$$) for this movie now. Johnnyt

All views about the movie trailer aside, it's nice to see women playing pool as more than eye candy or sex objects. Though you'd be hard pressed to have them admit it, from the shrinking number of WPBA events it looks like they're in some deep trouble. It is nice to see the women in the forefront for a change rather than the standard fare of male hustlers and degenerates looking to scam unsuspecting players.

Tying this to the sexual orientation of top players thread going on currently, having that orientation made public turns people off the sport. Realistically, whether AF or GH are interested in same-sex relationships or not matters little as perhaps 1 in a million male viewers would have ever had the opportunity to explore anything with them to begin with. But people I've talked to disregard the WPBA as "a bunch of (expletives) who think they're man enough to play with the big dogs". (Not my words or opinion, just a quote).

So maybe if we had a good movie centered around female players without treating them like either man-haters (common viewpoint about same-sex females) or sex toys it might help generate some interest for both men and women in the sport.

After all this I can give one point about this movie: When you make a good movie about any topic, actors usually train with the best in that field or area and occasionally those "best people" make cameo appearances. If I'm being vague, think of, "Willie", who holds the cash in, "The Hustler", or "Grady Seasons" in TCOM. Actors, however, tend to be pricey.

I think that this looked more professional than som other movies I have seen. I also think I get the idea of what the movie is about and I like it. Will it get into the theatres? who knows, if it does will it do well?? who knows. I am looking forward to seeing more.

Instead of wasting time making a movie, just put up a billboard in every major city that says "Call a trailer home??? Drink Beer??? Missing Teeth??? Hey Tards, Join the ApA"

If I'm not mistaken, The Color of Money some pretty big poolplayers in it. "Grady Seasons" was played by Keith McCready & there were appearances by Howard Vickery, Jimmy Mataya, Steve Mizerak, Louis Roberts & Grady Matthews. Also, Mike Sigel & Eva Mataya-Laurance served as technical directors. The only actors playing pool in this film were Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, & John Turturro.

You forgot Iggy Pop :)

I think this movie screams "90-minute APA commercial" that goes straight to DVD & the APA, as a special gift, includes a copy of this movie along with one of their seasonal magazines free for members.

To quote Dennis Miller: "This is just my opinion, I could be wrong."

Yes and those players, aside from Keith had few, if any, lines. What people remember are the actors and their portrayal. They pulled the story off better than the players themselves could have and that was where the interest came from.

Trailer wasn't great. Nice quality video.

I would probably watch the movie once. After all, I gave the Freddy Prince movie a shot, Turn the River and Pool Hall Junkies as well.

It does look like a trailer for the APA. Whatever.

Nice to see a theme other than hustling for once.
