A common sense question for Roberta Agnor-

Roberta,

Though I do not know you,
I would say you are an intelligent woman with the desire to do good and be loyal.

However,
If Barry Behrman could lie and cheat champions,
his peers in the industry
and his family...

and then offer you a shared platform during his interview on American Billiard Radio, only to cut you off anytime you spoke.

Knowing women's opinions generally hold no value to him.

With all of these facts substantiated:

Will you continue to defend a man of such low moral fiber
or will you separate yourself before you too become those among his patsies?

I for one would like to know-

I'm sorry It's froze-

Maybe Roberta just needs the job, don't know if it's fair to call her out.
Just think she's in a tough enough spot already, don't you ? :)

I'm by no means calling her out, I in fact am quite conscious of the fact that she means well.

I'm asking her a very pointed question out of sheer concern for her well being.

Though the question is direct, I would ask it of anyone-
I ask it now because she, like me,
is a woman and there is where my concern for her grows.

Jobs will come and jobs will go-
this is a shame for her to be subjected to.

I also do not know Roberta...

Could her involvement not be a vehicle for her to 'do her part' for pool?

Sure, an individual employee can't usually make the whole show work right, but I do think an individual can have a positive effect.

I don't see it as much calling Roberta out, as asking her an honest question.

In past years, she has been very vocal on defending Barry's actions.

This year, the lack of Roberta is very telling.

just my 2 cents.....

I do not know Roberta personally, but everyone I speak to has nothing but great & positive things to say about her. I also do not believe there's anything wrong with sticking up for a good friend, because I think we all have "that friend" that no matter what trouble they get into, we'd go to hell and back for them.

That being said, I think Roberta is one of the huge reasons folks have been willing to put up with Barry. She has valiantly stood by her friend and because she is a quality person, we are willing to forgive Barry. The problem is that he has used this friendship to gain an invaluable line of "good faith" equity that he has dipped into time and time and time again. What we are seeing now is that, like a monetary line of credit/equity, if you do not pay it back it will run out and eventually you run out of sources to tap into.

Roberta, I realize Barry is a friend, probably a better friend than most of us realize, but at some point the pattern becomes obvious and you have to call it like you see it.

KK9 knows Roberta from years of the Open. he speaks highly of her. i've spoken with her several times & i like her personally.

everyone has their reasons for what they do; times are tough. i think Barry used Roberta & Jay to get what he needed from AZB customers & the players - and they, at least, got paid.

but those books had better be airtight in the event of sale or GOB. otherwise, Roberta's setup to be his perfect scapegoat. any auditor could catch this BS in no time flat.

much like Barry, sometimes you need to cut your losses and move on -

from www.americanbilliardradio.com tonight:

(mark @ 30:00mins)

MIKE HOWERTON: "we're 4 mos past last year's Open, & the players are just now getting paid?"

BARRY: ".....we found out after almost 2 months, because they were overseas, & i am not going to throw Roberta or anybody under the bus, she IS my bookkeeper and i SHOULD have been reminded of this sooner, but....

How ironic, he says he doesn't want to toss her under the bus and then does just exactly that saying he should have been reminded sooner. Really? When you look at those that haven't been paid, players not well known that are from overseas I think it's fair to say Ray Charles could see that this is not an oversight but calculated. It's just reprehensible that decent people like Roberta and Jay have had the actions of Barry cause them so much grief. As PL said, times are tough and no one knows Roberta's situation in regards to needing her job. I think it's fair to say that it's Barry that is the person that should be held solely responsible for this debacle.

I've noticed she isn't so keen on opening threads and posting now as she was prior to the US Open 2014.

Angel, I don't know Roberta either, and just by her posts, I like her and I understand her wanting to do what she can to help make things right.

I find this to be extremely disturbing:

MIKE HOWERTON: "we're 4 mos past last year's Open, & the players are just now getting paid?"

BARRY: ".....we found out after almost 2 months, because they were overseas, & i am not going to throw Roberta or anybody under the bus, she IS my bookkeeper and i SHOULD have been reminded of this sooner, but....

In fact, Barry did throw Roberta under the bus. I think her hands were probably tied because she couldn't do anything without Barry's permission, and if that's the case, she should walk away and never look back.

I've had to do it myself at times. It's hard, and it makes you a little bit poorer financially, but in the end you still have your integrity and self-respect.

I'm going with this....
I said before in another thread, Roberta is between a rock and a hard place.
She has to be solid and not join in on the Barry bashing......
...even when it all falls apart and she moves on to other things.

Roberta, you have my sympathy.

JMO, Barry appears to be manipulating everyone in his path. Players, employees, and the customers that attend his event. I feel it is unethical but has become pervasive in our society and find myself wondering how we all got to this point. It must come to money, the old root of all evil. I think that Roberta has found herself in a no win situation due to her association with Barry. What a mess...

Who knew? After so many years of Barry not paying players, joking about it himself at the event, and then actually stiffing players on payday (and since), the problem was that his bookkeeper didn't remind him.

Presumably she also forgot to remind him to pay the full amount to the gentleman in Vietnam he wired money to recently.

The guy is a steaming pile of garbage.

I felt from the beginning that Roberta was being positioned as some sort of scapegoat. She seems well intentioned and respected here on the forums.
Perfect candidate for someone like Barry to use and abuse.

Could be wrong but that's what my gut tells me.

Anybody that couldn't see Barry for what he is years ago, didn't want to for some reason or another. One reason is money. For at least 6 years I've been getting red rep for saying anything bad about Barry or the Open. This year after the 2 week wait after the event I got one, but he won't stick up for Barry in a thread anymore. He gave me more red about a month or so ago and added "suck on this" to it. I was horrified. Johnnyt
