A friend of mine just found out that he has Chancer and his Son plays with me in the pool league.I offered him $400 for his Gilbert B/J but I wood take his only cue and I don't want to do that.
So in honer of Dave I want a chance for your Cue and give it to him
Thanks Chris

for my friend James

I have a much older friend (about 50 or so years old) who plays lights out pool. He works as a custodian at my school (New Jersey Medical School), and I always find him sneaking in and out of our student center to play some pool very very late at night. He cannot afford to play at a pool hall but he loves the game. He lives by himself and spends almost all his free time playing pool there. So I signed him up for the APA pool league and sent in the membership fee for him, and in a two short months time has become an SL6. He has taught me quite a thing or two and plays a very well. This entire year or so, he and I have been sharing my stick, but very recently he has expressed interest in buying a cue stick of his own, so I showed him this website, but he also does not have any sort of computer access nor how to use them. So I set about the task of trying to find him a very affordable cue for him to play with, but everything I find is too pricey for him. He didn't realize it would cost him at least $100 or more to buy a nice, durable stick. He has expressed such gratitude to play with me, in my league, and with my cue, but he also feels like he is intruding. I absolutely love this man and his company, so I made him a deal that I would get him a cue if he kept playing with me, and he reluctantly agreed. I would absolutely love to give my friend, James, a cuestick that he would be able to use for a very long time. Unfortunately, I was recently mugged on my front door and don't have much money at my expense (I live in Newark, NJ). I start working a part time job on Monday, so I will be able to eventually find something for James, but it would mean quite a lot to me if I could live up to my end of the bargain with something nice. May God bless you.

Bill, your thread is a wonderful idea and I commend you for offering discounts to military persons and veterans...and now this giveaway. However, when you added your negative post to try to bait Joe Van into an argument, you crossed the line into poor taste imo. So, yes, I gave your post a bad rep. Had you not done that, you would have gotten a positive rep for the first post in the thread.

Good post = good rep.....bad post = bad rep.

Hope everything is going well.....later.

Sean

this is what the compition thinks of this thread! the mocking is unbelievible for me trying to do somthing good for our members ,industry and our service people ! you should be thankful that you can own a buis and vote and able to express your opinion ! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ classicues I have my own thread !! I am so special.. he really does love me.. I'd like to thank the academy, God, and to all those who voted...: ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ so here is a example of what we will do because of the extreme jealousey and to answer your Question manwon every cue will be diff, herceks and szams I have less room to move and others will have better discounts! because of the mocking I will offer this cue to any vet for $900.00 off my price and a 100% cash buy back at any time and 110% trade up at any time (keeping the condition close to new) they might be originators but we are the best! http://www.cornerstonecustomcues.com/cues/lrgcues/028an.html and thank you and GOD BlESS THE USA

Thank you Bill

This is a great exercise in generosity...for so many reasons.

John E is now 80 years old and his daily fitness routine is to practice cut shots in Rhode Island Billiards. He comes in alone and plays by himself each day for about 2 hours.

More than 20 years ago, John was my straight pool partner/teacher and also taught me patterns in 9-ball. He is generous to a fault with the only thing he has to give...his knowledge of the game. He was...and is...unable to own a nice cue or even spend much while in the pool room. For his time, I would buy him coffee and pay the green fees. John is my friend and over the last 22 years, has been the one constant in the pool room where I learned to play. He still teaches others, though it seems there are fewer young people every year.

Why a cue for him...he has spent his days giving knowledge and inspiring more people to play and to love the game. Now, perhaps, it is time for others and the game to inspire him. I would like to remind him that what he has given has changed people and will continue to inspire them to give as well.

Great idea Bill, I think deciding who gets the cue will be the tough, these are some touching stories, good luck. Thanks for helping others.

This is a similar idea as the Karma giveaways we frequently do over at my favorite gun board http://www.smith-wessonforum.com

I even gave away some house cue blanks here a month or two ago, hopefully it starts to catch on as it really seems to help the overall "friendliness' of a forum.

I don't have a likely candidate, so don't include me yet. Maybe I'll find someone who deserves this great "karma".

The brother of my sis-in law back home in the philippines has been playing pool and he loves to play pool. He called me one day that he wanted a cue to use he said that everytime he plays pool or tournament he used a house cue. His dream is to own a 2 piece cue. If i just have an extra cue and i don't have someone that i support for their schools i could have bought him a 2 piece cue to continue his dream to be a world champion. Bill even though you don't pick my story I think you are an :angel2: ....We thank you that there's someone in this world like you that think of others. God bless you my friend.

It seems that in the "pool world" much attention is given to the few unsavory characters that the action attracts. this has tugged my heart strings, God Bless You for iniating the kindness, God Bless those who are replying, God Bless those in need, God Bless us all.

First of all, let me say that this is a very generous gesture on your part Bill. God bless you for it.

Secondly, I don't have a story that will probably tug at anyone's heart. But I do know a single mom raising two daughters on her own with zero help from her ex. She was instrumental in helping me get my team to Vegas a couple of years ago. She loves to play pool but can't afford a cue. I would nominate her for consideration. If I had the extra cash I'd buy her one myself. Anyway, again Bill an awesome thing you're doing. Take care...

i'll try

no real touching story here, but my girlfriend is learning to play, and it would be great for her to have her own cue. so, put me in too

Here it is

An absolute Jackass of a guy has a great kid...here is the kind of guy he is...I basically gave the game away so he could play his son in the semis, I was telling someone that he got lucky and he decided to talk smack to me and I just let it slide, knowing his 12 year old son was right there and wished him luck the rest of the way. The next round he beat his own son 6-1 and didnt let his son play in the finals. His son has a cue but a bunk production one and his father just bought a new one for himself. Its one of those random acts of kindness, that I hope his kid turns out to be better than his dad. He is 12 and beat 2 solid B players with a house cue (for some reason he didnt have his cue that night) to get to the semis to play his selfish dad.

Here is the story I wanted to tell you.

My name is Charlie and I am 25. When i first started playing pool it was really difficult in the beginning because no one would play with the newbie. I would ask for advice and get none. Ask for games and the same thing would happen. It took over two years to earn my place in the pool room as a player to be taken even remotely seriously. Now that I have been playing for around seven years I get games all the time with friends and am well liked in my room as one of the regulars. Well an older gentleman named Ross has recently started coming in. I would say he is in his late sixties. He is basically to put it bluntly horrible. As bad as that sounds the one thing he keeps saying is how much he wants to learn and play and the one thing I keep doing is playing with him perhaps to the detriment of my own game. So a few weeks back on a day i wasnt there he purchased a sneaky pete with a screw on tip from someone less than savory to put it lightly. The story i then heard how a screw on tip is more solid and will last for years longer than our regular tips. We then told him the real story behind screw on tips. Since hearing the story he has been kind of down on himself about it and hasnt been coming around as much.

I have started coaxing him back and he has been shooting with one of my cues. He has since told not only people in the pool room but my parents and my girlfriend that I am probably the nicest kid that he has met in a long time. All Im doing is playing with him and trying to give him the help and support I didnt get when I was a newbie. In all honesty I dont care how he plays so long as he enjoys himself and that is my main concern with him. Not that he cares about money or tournaments or beating people that simply he enjoys the game.

I would love nothing more than to present him with his own cue and case. Make him feel like a real shooter especially after the scew on tip incident.

I really hope you consider me for this and my buddy Ross.

Sincerely,
Charlie
