Hey all- Just thought I would start a thank you thread to dr. dave of billiards.colostate.edu

He definitely deserves this- I just printed off around 100 pages or so of his articles a couple of days ago... and just reading them has helped my understanding IMMENSELY. I can't wait to get a chance to test out all that I've learned.

The work that he's put into this is incredible I cannot believe it...

I'm sure my pool playing will be taken to the next level by what I read and learned

So thanks a ton Dave!

You are right, when I first found the site, I was stuck on it for almost two months watching the slo-mo's and reading material. I still go back and go over some things and view some stuff I missed. It is an asset to the billiard community. Thanks Dave:thumbup:

He does all of this unselfishly to help out his fellow players.
Sometimes its easy to get caught up in our own little world and forget the common courtesies. A big thank you is deffinitely in order for all the helpful tech tips Dave.

I second that. Mr. Dr. Dave is a great resource and is very much appreciated for his contributions to pool. I am proud to be his friend.

Good thread. The things I have learned from Dr. Dave have helped me to become a better instructor. He does the work, and I reap the rewards! Not a bad deal, huh? Thanks, David.

thank you sir for being out there! You deserve the Super Dave award. Our computer pool hero DPS DPS DPS Dave's Pool Solutions. mark

I stumbled on those vids and sat there staring at those videos for hours without even worrying about the instructional value of them. Now as I start to sweat the details I learn more and more from these clips and have started to rewatch them with a different point of view. Dave's contribution both in the videos and these threads is huge.

Thanks!

Do you think Dr. Dave is doing this out of his intense love of the game and in the name of science?---Or do you think its becuse the Pool Hotties are descending on Col State to have their photo (way) with him?

Just a thought---do not answer this unless you have scientific proof.

Here's my question: After printing 100 pages of his articles, why not just buy the book? Seriously? It's almost the same as watching the videos only in goes into alot more detail. Not that I am trying to promote his book and all, but I happen to be the proud owner of this book. I used to watch his videos back in 2004 and I just became very estatic into how Dr. Dave Alciatore goes into fine detail within the physics and mathematics of billiards. He is certainly due for a fine merit. All we need now is another book of him in Snooker and Carom. :sorry::shrug::bow-down:

Great idea JDP12

You are right on target! Dr Dave is and has been for quite a while now an immense asset to the world of pool players who care at all about their games. He stands out from so many other great contributors by backing up his statements with extraordinary videos showing the shots in action.

Thanks again, Dr Dave, and thanks JDP12 for this thread. Rep to you both.

Other than Dr. Love, Dr. Dave is my favorite doctor.

Seriously though, he contributes a lot to the billiards community.

Thanks Doc !

I have spent hours upon hours on his website and the information is absolutely superb. I have also printed out some of his previous articles as a way to help illustrate some of the priciples to people I'm trying to help. His site is one of the few sites that I really stress to players to go visit who ask me advice about various things.

I want to thank everybody for the kind and supportive remarks in this thread. I actually didn't see the thread until today ... a friend pointed it out to me.

I have certainly learned as much as I have shared on this forum, and I look forward to much more learning and sharing in the future.

Thanks again to everybody!
Dave

Dave-

After devouring almost all of your articles( Got delayed by studying for finals)

I escaped studying today for a few minutes to practice the ghost ball aiming technique you illustrated..

HOLY COW. No wonder I've been missing easy shots... I was aiming at contact point. I started aiming at a ghost ball... Started sinking them like crazy

I also tested the 30 and 90 degree rule... wow.

I cannot thank you enough for those great articles.

it's taken my game to the next level by helping me rid myself of those easy shots that I always missed because of a poor fundamental

You're very welcome. It's nice to hear that people appreciate my stuff. It inspires me to do more.

Good luck with your continued improvement,
Dave

PS: I'm glad your priorities are set right ... study for finals, and then play pool. School is cool (and so is pool). :grin-square:
