A little Christmas present to everyone, challenge of champions video

How about THIS for an accurate prediction:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkMpqzvk-OY&feature=player_detailpage#t=2448s

And it's interesting to note that Jim Rempe was also a player in the event and ended up commenting on the finals. IF they really did collude to allow Mike Lebron to win then that must have been weighing heavily on Jim as he commented.

Kim Prince is making constant references to the fact that the casino is booking action on the players and Jim Rempe won't touch that topic AT ALL.

Thank you for posting

I think it is proper for this to be available to be seen.

Thanks to JPowell7575 for posting this.

Everyone must be responsible for their actions.

Thank you JPowell!

It seemed like Howard forgot about dumping until he got down on that nine. Oh s**t, if I make this I'm on the hill 4-1!

I don't even know what to say about Buddy's combo attempt! I guess that was the only way to guarantee to miss it.

That table had buckets for pockets, and I can't believe how slooow the cloth was back then.

Wish it wasn't True

I was at a Filipino party with Efren, Francisco and the gang in LA.
Mike was bragging about the dump.
I was mortified, I told him to keep his mouth shut.

I'll make damn sure to never become drinking buddies with you...

As soon as I saw David Howard on this link, I knew that this was the year they chopped 8 ways...

Not sure what people are saying about what actually happened... But I literally heard it from the horse's mouth....Sitting up at Lil David's pool room off 103rd in Jax after hours... Drinkin with David, his wife and a few others....

Maybe someone can confirm that there were other years that David played in the COC.... If not, it was def an 8 way chop... Anyone else in Jax or from Jax will tell you the same... David likes to drink and isn't really hush hush about anything from the past, the road, etc....

Merry Xmas to all and thank you JPowell for sharing....

I'm not sure what to think. It did look like mistakes that an amateur might make.

I know my hands would be shakey during a $50K match.

I guess it's tough to swallow when thinking some of your heroes would do something like that.

try ALL of them except for EARL

Looks like Buddy was trying to scratch every shot to make it look good.

But the combo is for certain the smoking gun. There is no way for any amount of money, in any game, that any capable player...let alone Buddy Hall.. could ever hit that combo on the complete wrong side of the ball.

Like completely 100% impossible.

Oh and they're pretty bad actors too with all the phony reactions. But that;s just an observation, the missed combo is fact.

I remember when The Oilers beat the Steelers 31-6.

I wonder if Kevin Cusick knew the dump was on?

From the sound of the comments in this thread some of the players didn't seem to mind "bragging" about their heist.

Most people would like to sweep this under the carpet.

They should make a documentary. That would help bring pool back...

Is it known how much they cheated Vegas out of?

No one came knocking on their doors after-the-fact?

Read the other thread, Jay posted his story and it contains the amount you are looking for. Probably there was no way actually prove it at the time so no doors to knock on. The publicity for the newly opened and presumably corporate-owned Mirage would have been worse if they had roughed up the players for what Jay said is chump change.

I didn't know too much about this until these threads.I have never heard about this before. And I bet there are many like me.

If someone ,in the past,,did tell me about it. I shrugged it off like a big foot story.

All I can say is,,,the video is terrible evidence. As some of the shots have been discussed. I bet they didn't fool too many,,even at the time.

Anyone know how this effected the pool world. As far as the amount of events held up to this,,and then after this.

It's possible ,,the next time someone asks,,"what happen to pool"? This video is all that is needed for a answer.

Both of thier reactions where phony as hell lol!! Buddy tryin to act dissapointed but smiling mostly. I remember seeing that match on espn back in the day i was young and did'nt suspect anything but could not believe he missed that combo either way. Pockets look pretty big on that table as well.

The door knocking was the most interesting part of the story to me.
I wish this whole episode would have died years ago. But again, it got spread around by the big mouthed players who again, shot themselves in the foot.

This is just sickening. I remember playing pool at our local YMCA by myself at 13 just imagining playing my favorite pool player Buddy Hall.
Thanks for posting the video. Although I don't really consider this a present. It's more depressing to me than anything.

What King said. This was horrible to watch. Hell I could have outplayed Lebron based on the racks I saw.

Thanks for posting the video, I think!

As a side, watched Buddy play in some tourneys back in the 80's - damn he was fun to watch when he was playing TO WIN!
