No Jennie, she meant "cook facts" -- as in those that've been boiled down to truthfulness, so that you, the reader, only gets the bestest information! The truth just falls off the bone...

I thought of Steve Cook, who was supposed to be an excellent one-hole player.

Here's an interesting factoid:
First year 1994 the format was eight players per team, comprising 6 men and two women
For the second and third year 1995 and 1996 it changed seven men per team
In 1997 it changed to six men per team up until 2006
In 2007 it changed to the present format of five per team

Geoff Conway, in his fine article, skillfully captures the fact that, although the Mosconi Cup has the feel of an event that is quite new and still growing, there is some history worthy of note that has made the event what it is today.

For those who's not familiar with Geoff Conway along being a great writer he does some great pool commentary as well. I really enjoyed his commentary when he filled in during US Open 9-Ball.

I am probably one of the few here who know who sunk the winning 9-ball in the first Mosconi Cup - it was Mark Wilson (noted instructor, commentator, and former tour player).

Oddly enough, I had known him well for several years before I found this factoid (he never mentioned even playing on the team; which he did for the first 2 years of the competition). I obtained a copy of the television broadcast of the first Mosconi Cup; watched; and found it fascinating (especially in view of the aspersions often cast upon instructors about their playing ability).

I can't remember the team though; Paul Gerni, Lou Butera, Jeanette Lee, Vivian Villareal (???Nick Varner???, ?who else?).
