Well, let's pick it up where we left off, Melissa. You have delivered big-time. Congratulations on your performace at the US Open.
As the thread title indicates, a lovely lady will play on ESPN. Her name is Melissa Herndon, and I just can't wait to see her play on TV.

You have always been one of my favorites and I've seen many of your matches over the years and delighted in your achievements. You play an exciting, aggressive style, of pool, and carry yourself with an air of quiet condfidence that is both visible and attractive.
As the third highest ranked American born player (only Monica and Jeanette are presently ranked higher), you are very much part of the nucleus of American pool excellence.
You played some great pool in Peoria, Melissa, and if you play that same kind of pool in the upcoming WPBA events, we on the forum may be tuning in to watch you on ESPN real soon. Now that's a day to live for! Good luck.

Melissa Herndon said:First, thank you so much for everything. Your support and encouragement has really been inspirational.
Second, I really wasn't intending to sell myself short. I do see a pretty girl when I look in the mirror. (That isn't ego...it is just what I see. Others may not agree....but I like my face.) I was simply stating a fact....which is, I am not shaped like Jenn Barretta. I couldn't be shaped like that even if I worked my butt off (literally) for the rest of my life. It doesn't phase me though...I am very comfortable in my own skin. In truth, the average American female is represented by girls like me...not the cover girls and bikini models out there. So, when I go into the arena, I know I am role model...for the young players...or just young people in general. I want to be the example of a person who is content and happy with who they are...even if they don't conform to the ideals of society.
Third, I truly hope that I will get to play in the TV rounds soon...for all of you!
