I felt the death of Mike Erwin might have been overlooked in a previous thread so instead of adding to it, I felt should be in the title of a new thread.
My wife and I traveled from South Carolina to MIkes home about 10 years ago just to meet the man that made the great cues that so many played with in this area of the country.
He and Scott who was a young man at that time made us feel very welcome. He was a humble man who just wanted to work, do his best make a living providing for his family.
He was'nt a braggart, did a lot of work for pool players with little money at less than fair prices. He would take on many cue problems that others with big names would not because there was not a lot of money to be made.
He was what I would call as the bible says, the salt of the earth. I have met a lot of people and cuemakers but he made a big impression on me. He reminded me of the southern men of my past.
Although wlth not a lot he was proud of his work and turned out better work than others who had a lot more resources . His dedication and compassion for his family and fellow man came first.
I feel so sad to hear of Mikes passing and hurt for Scott who has been there for him and will continue his legacy.May God bless the family of Mr. MIke Erwin Master cuemaker, Master human being now with the Master of us all.
p.s. Where can you send help for the family?
