Chris just called me and asked me to post this for him. When he was working in his shop the other night he had a tube of Epoxy explode and it got in his eyes. He went to the Emergency Room and he is now recovering. He is concerned because people have been trying to reach him but he has not been able to get back to them. He is doing alright but he is still having vision problems. He is very sorry that he has not responded but he will get back with everyone as soon as he can. I am posting for him because he can't use the computer right now. Thank you all for your understanding.

Seriously, Chris is a great guy and it's very thoughtful of him to think of his customers at a time like this. I hope he recovers quickly!
 
Sorry but I don't know all the details of how it happened. The Epoxy was West System Epoxy.
 
Epoxy Pump

I spoke with Chris after Will and it was actually an epoxy pump that malfunctioned and shot epoxy into his eye.
He's going to be out of commission for a few of days and is sitting in bed in quite a bit of pain.
Hopefully there isn't any permanent damage to his eye but is sounds rather serious.
I'm going to try and see him tomorrow.

If anyone has been trying to get in touch with him let Will or I know and we will get him the message.
Chris is concerned about the people that have tried to reach him, but he had to turn his phone off.
The pain he is going through is unbelievable.
I wish him the best.

Damn it that really sucks, Chris is a very nice guy who makes very nice cues. It's a shame that it seems that bad things happen to good people, I hope he makes a full recovery!!

Tell Chris that Gene and Renee' of Crown Cues wish him a very speedy recovery, so he can make sure his socks match for the Expo. Hopefully, that will cause him to smile, even if only for a moment.

Also, tell him Renee' posted a message about this in the other forum.

I bet this means I really did post my message in the thread, earlier. I saw this thread and thought it was the same one and that maybe I hadn't hit the submit button to post my message. So, I tried to remember what I wrote and I reposted. Hahahaha....

Glad Chris has good friends looking after him. Its hard to hear that such a great guy is in so much pain. Thanks for the info, guys!

I've known Chris for quite a while and beside the fact that he's a great cue builder he is also a friend.
Besides his job and all of his interests outside of cuebuilding he has been trying to finish cues, all of the repairs and favors he does for everyone, and get ready for Valley Forge.

He told me that I could come in and put the finishing touches on Will's snakewood cues.....:eek:
 
Get well soon Chris. You were the best roommate I ever had!!!!

I was reading about this and it seems as if the eyes have a pretty good protective layer against things like this. I hope so in your case!!

I will be beaming positivity your way and wishing for a speedy and painless recovery.

I wish Chris a speedy recovery & my prayers go out to him. Ted, if your finishing Will`s snakewood cue, I may have to fly to Colorado and coax Chris off the edge & get him back to reality LOL.

Chris and I have been working on a cue I just puchased which is the snakewood and amboyna cue with bridged points. He has been great with his communication on this project of ours, and seems like a real nice guy that has a passion for building awesome cues. I wish him a quick recovery, and hopefully his injury is not serious.

I am officially volunteering to do any finish work necessary to help Chris out.
Except for my own cues of course since I've never turned on a lathe, put on a wrap, and can't even paint a wall.
Inlays, veneers, tips, wraps, never done it but I'm willing to give it a try.

Will, you want your cues when??

Here's hoping there's no permanent damage from the epoxy and Chris has a quick recovery. My hand slipped while I was changing a tire once and my thumb gouged my left eye. Unbelievable pain. The right eye shut too from sympathy and I couldn't see for three or four days - just constant pain and nothing to do. Hope it won't be as bad for Chris.
 
I just hope it's nothing permanent. I winced like crazy when I read about this. Of all the places for a pool player to get glue... not the eyes. Hope it was the slow drying stuff.
