A new live streamer and network helping billiard business and the players emerge.

Not bad considering the 'non-production' nature of the broadcast, and constraints of the equipment. Got the job done. YouTube would have been very gracious. NOT!

I may be mistaken but was your OP not promoting "niche" markets to raise real cash for players and others?

With that in mind, bad quality video with a jinky version of the audio in the room isn't going to get any ball rolling other than the one that's already in motion. Anyone with the time could do that with a minimum of equipment. Amateur videos are all over the net. I was just telling the truth, assuming it would be welcome even if not what you wanted to hear.

I'm just saying that the effort was good and the match was good and only available because someone made the effort to put it out there for all.

I hope she keeps working at it because there is a lot of action in Houston and more coming, so when Big Truck isn't here or when the matches jump off from barking and the best we have is what we got...,

You got to go with it.

I agree, No one here watches more live streams the myself:wink:. The effort is appreciated and "going with it" works for me.

The back ground noise was only slightly better then zero commentary. I would still listen to it before I muted it. If Crazy E can take a little constructive criticism then she will be better off.

Thanks Erica for the effort you and your team put out, I enjoyed the match.

The key to getting people on board with your effort is giving a reason and incentive. I would say free software and monetary incentives.

I have been on Ustream and don't get monetary compensation from them but don't feel ripped off as it's a solid network and has a good viewer following where people know there is pool to watch 24/7.

YouTube is even greater when it comes to the number of views videos will get and there is some monetary incentive. Getting big views do matter on Ustream and YouTube but on an obscure network the numbers will go way down and that hurts things.

I don't see the majority of streamers moving over unless there is marketing behind your network to get people to go there and without some pool being streamed there nonstop then it is pointless. You can get new pool content constantly on YouTube and also watch live pool at any hour on Ustream.

I know you have a vision of what you want your network to be but you have to figure out how to get it there. Without incentives your top pool streamers and content producers are not going to move away from something that is proven.

I'm not a negative person, so don't take this the wrong way, but some of us have been around long enough to see some genuinely great ideas and good intentions both, fall flat on their face due to awful execution.

Now that's not to say that I'm some kind of old curmudgeon, or that people are always evil, because neither are true. But as it stands right now, from a target consumer viewpoint, this concept has been presented in a manner that is not clear and mostly unprofessional.
On the most basic level, the average reasonable consumer cannot put much faith in a project that is surrounded with controversy and arguments from the very creators of it.

It's a simple fix but unfortunately you can't un-ring a bell.
If you really really really want the ospn concept to succeed, you need to consult a professional before you do any thing else. Seriously. I am willing to offer my services for a modest fee, but even if it's not me, please consult someone before you do yourself more harm than good.

This Crazy Erica thing again?

The idea is good when you look at it on the surface, but the execution is terrible. If at least the website wasn't such a huge mess it would't gather so much ridicule.

I am sorry if I am somewhat offensive here, but I can't see this ever working, at least not in it's current state.

Even if it eventually gets better, I fail to see how it is any different from all the other pool streamers.

Furthermore, the "intro" video seems to emphasizes that we will see "real hustlers" and such on the website. I think this is going in the wrong direction and not the good thing to advertise if you are looking for increased popularity in pool, but that's a whole other topic.

Just my 2¢.
I agree with your statement on real hustlers...I don't understand why we need to focus on that.....focus on the players, what have they won, where are they from? what do they do for the sport...etc..

Have ideas like this to rejuvenate pool ever been approached from a project management and business analysis perspective? Getting a representative from each major stakeholder group to identify all the problems with pool, what their goal or vision is, and really dig into the root cause of the problems. Then come up with solutions that meet the majority of the Stakeholders need. Instead of jumping to solutions prior to analyzing the problem. And coming up with solutions that meet the needs of only a portion of the Stakeholders.

As a side note: much credit to the poster as it is much more difficult to come up with ideas vs picking them apart.

I was watching it and enjoyed it while I could.

Problem with the dark area around the table was that you couldn't really see the what the players looked like. If it wasn't for the names on the screen I wouldn't have known who was playing.

Then it started to keep dropping out. I would have to close, refresh the link and then start the stream. Stream would last a few minutes and then drop. It got to be too bad to watch.

It was difficult at first to figure out how to get the stream.

Wasn't able to get into the chat and those that were chatting didn't relate to anything about the stream.

Did like the screen over write showing the pocket and etc, but that other writing was rather dumb, along with the pop in cameos of I guess Crazy Erica. If you want it to work keep it professional.

Good luck and hope there is more with a better stream.

Why are some stuck on ESPN type broadcasts. Jeeez. Like we're going to see live streams with 500k in equipment, and 10 people on payroll. These are internet streams by normal people like you and I. It generates viewership, exposure, and fun. It also allows us to watch pool from afar as if we were in the pool room watching. No high horses needed. Let's get with 2016, and worry about quality when the OSPN project is successful obtaining national advertisements that generate cash for the players. That's what it's about. Can't wait to endorse the 1st pro player with revenue, that currently is thrown away to YouTube and Ustream. It is time. The time is now.

You would not have seen the match if not for her. I don't know her, but I Love Pool, so if see transmits, I'll watch. I NEVER HEAR anyone saying their not going to watch the videos from the Philippines, we're just happy to be able to see them, cars and trucks in the background, roosters people standing and siting around the table and no English, yet that all ok...,

But a little grain in the video or a little unappreciated music or commentary and now we cant deal with it? You must not really be into Pool.

 at the implication that if you are critical of this effort in any way you "must not really be into pool".

Dave <-- , loves pool, and is gonna go play

I say go for it and don't give up. Anyone trying to do work for pool is a good thing. Listen to the criticism, ask advice, and keep a open mind.

I don't get it...this is a supposed community of like mided people interested in billiards, yet it seems most people here enjoy bickering more than actually watching and discussing the pool. I really enjoyed having the chance to watch some good one pocket from the couch. For FREE and LIVE no less, and in the pool hall setting. I could care less who's dating what player, what music was playing, or any of that other crap. If I have to put up with some doodleing every now and again so what? Watching it live at my pool hall I have to put up with the ocasional schmuck who is considerably more aggravating.

If this is some sort of start up with grand illusions of dominating the live stream billiards industry then go for it. The market will determine if its a viable busniess plan or not. Until then, thanks for the effort. And when is the next match?
