A new Venom Trickshots video on youtube

It's definitly possible, the most difficult part is actually if you put the CB on the head spot, then it's hard to put your knee on the table...

Hi Venom;

The cueball being on the headspot is not important. It can be close to the cushion as long as it is in perfect alignment with the headspot and footspot.

Can this be done?

If yes, any chance you can show us?

Thanks!

Best,
Brian kc

Great video as usual, Venom - you definitely have some sweet interpretations of and innovations on the standard artistic repertoire!

Sometimes I wonder how well some of your shots transfer to live performance, though, since it's clear that many of them are low percentage enough to be video-only...not that that isn't really fun to watch! How secure have you found that you have to be with a certain pattern before you attempt it during a live show? 1 in 5 maybe? Perhaps worse if the setup is quick and you have a good story to go with it? Or do you find that your sense of the general skill/knowledge level of the audience tends to guide your choices as to what to go for? I imagine that a group of skilled players are more likely to be patient enough to see a certain effect done successfully.

In any case, the advent of venues like YouTube has certainly changed the nature of performance art for the better IMHO. I love how what used to be shared privately between a small group of aficionados (like beautiful but low-percentage shot ideas) is now shared openly with the world for all to study and build upon.

Keep up the great work!

Robert

i've done your shot today, really easy. it get's harder when you put the OB on the first damond and now I'm trying with the OB only 2 balls away from the short rail, getting though this way^^

you right some shots are definitly really low percentage, however as told it's experimentations so I only take the best out of it to practice. Honnestlmy I now secured way enough 'hard' shot to do in a show. double jump, double masse, you'll see at least one of each in my show. Of course regarding the watchers i can adjust all this. also keep in mind that instead of seting up a set up shot for 3 or 5 minutes, I can set up my shots way more quickly so if I miss it's not too bad as i'ml still faster than a regular one. But of course there are also some classical shots you can't avoid, as well as the hustling shots which are just too legendary to not be included

btw Robert, do you know if there are any 3 cushion table in the philadelphia area? I've a big artistic billiard event in septemeber and as I'll be in PA all august I need to practice some...

Pretty cool stuff but after take 1000......

Heard that Florian pissed off a lot of the striaght pool players at the SBE in 2010. Banging on the table shot after shot while guys where trying to run balls. Not hating but there are only a few shots that blow my mind. Bravo on that super masse at the :45 second mark!!!! That was straight awesome!!!!! Other than that its... Meh...

There always has to be that one guy that brings everyone down with a complete lack of respect.

If Florian was a problem at SBE, then the 14.1 guys should have spoken up. Talking trash behind Florian's back is about as sad as using such an unrelated incident as a cheap shot on a pool forum.

Oh internet forums.....it never ends.

I didnt go behind anybody's back and i also stated NO DISRESPECT!!!! Im just repeating what one PROFESSIONAL pool player told me and thats it!!! You got a problem with that??? They take it up with all the players for the Straight pool 14:1 challenge!!! Im sure every one of them will have something to say.. That i can guarantee you!!!!

Again im not hating on Florian i think he's great but most were pissed off by his INSANE amount of stabbing the slate while others where competing for a straight pool title at the SBE!!!!! Maybe they shouldve set up his booth with all the other trick shot and Artistic pool players...

Just saying

Philly isn't known for 3-cushion, but there are a few places with tables. Drexeline Billiard Club (Jimmy Caras' old hangout) has two heated Chevillottes, but I don't know their current condition. The USBA Room Finder page for Pennsylvania lists another place called Tacony Palmera Billiard Club as having 4 unheated tables, but I've never been there. You might also check the room finder for NJ rooms near Philly, but I think most places with carom tables are farther north closer to NY.

Btw, Philly is only 2 hours or so from Flushing, NY, so if you've never been to Carom Cafe - i.e. the capital of 3-cushion billiards in America :) - then it's definitely worth the trip for a visit! There's no other place like it in the country.

I don't know if it's too early for you to make it, but Carom Cafe is having an open 3-cushion event during the last weekend of July (28-31) that should include some international players in addition to top US talent. If you think you might make it up for a visit while you're in PA, just send me a PM and I can put you in touch with some friends/players to meet there. Depending on scheduling, I bet you could arrange an exhibition as well, if you're interested.

Wasnt Florian suppose to compete in a world billiards competition?? I remember hearing about it about a year ago on here.. Anybody know how he did??

The 14.1 players are the ones talking behind his back. Not you. If they had a problem with it, they should simply have asked him to stop. They didn't ask, and blaming Florian accomplishes nothing.

And yes I have a problem with you posting this. The incident is almost half a year old, is complete and utterly unrelated to the purpose of the thread, and repeating it here isn't contributing in any shape or form. Just because you said "no disrespect" doesn't mean you didn't cause any.

I think he's absolutely brilliant Nate but im not that into trick shots but dont get me wrong.. Hands down his is the Houdini of pool!!! I mean when you see Mike Massey's face light up with excitement its nothing short of awesome ;)

So again did he compete in the 3-cushion event or not because I do remember posting for him to take it all ;)

+ Rep for such a respectable response

As for the 3 cushion thing, I must have dropped off the face of the earth during this (or more likely was in Vegas), as I didn't even know about this event. I'm sure Florian will fill us in.

Well maybe it was just an idea or thought of the other members but im pretty sure he didnt considering your his right hand man (nice out takes on the dvds btw... they were quite funny ) but im sure he could've held his own if he did compete

I'm not quite sure what you're insinuating here, but other than making his DVD, Florian is nothing more than a friend of mine.

lots of talent,

my suggestions

-eliminate the use of cues along the rails to guide balls, it's a crutch that you're too talented to be using

-work more on stuff you can duplicate live 9 times out of ten
