A Question About...

Well, for one,I am not new here. For two,I wasn't talking to you.For three,I have a question for you.Why are you so bothered about my words?
You're preaching on a freaking BILLIARDS forum. Go preach where it is appropriate. Your God is not everybody else's god. Do unto others someplace else.

sorry if i have offended you, but he asked what the bible said in regards to the topic.

i'm not trying to stir up a debate or religous controversy... I'm just letting him know what I have found, based on actually reading the bible and studying it. Now Following what it says is a struggle in itself...

Well, if we are gonna look at this from a Bible perspective, I must make a few points.

God slaughtered an entire land of men, women, and children, so that it could be handed over to "his people".

God also sez you deserve to be tortured eternally if you have sex outside of marriage and do not ask for forgiveness in the proper way.

Etc.....etc.......etc.......

A lot of things in the Bible are completely ignored by modern Christians.. (Hey Christian ladies.. You DO all wear dresses, right? That what the Bible sez..)

Modern Christians believe what they WANT to believe out of the Bible, and gloss over the rest. So, since our society still has Puritanical concepts of "right" and "wrong" ingrained in it, we still believe gambling is technically "wrong". Those that enjoy gambling immensely will, as a general rule, not be seen as a normal person in society.

Do what you want to doi. The Bible is written so vaguely, that there is guaranteed to be a single quote from scripture that justifies what you want to do.

It's been working for Christians for hundreds of years... :D

Once again.I was not talking to you.I was responding to Madhatern about his view. Please answer my question sir.Why are you so bothered by my post?

lol, he said its not that old when its 3 years old!! :P probably he thinks its from january this year :D

anyways, my english is not perfect to explain in very excellent words for you guys.... but just to add a one thing about gambling from how we've see it. I'm a Muslim, living in a muslim country, here we don't gamble, its not allowed in both religion and law. - explaining would be hard for me unless I get a dictionary.. but thats how it is.. I'm an open minded guy, i have christian friends, and also non-religion friends, my point of saying this is that i'm not Antagonistical and I take & listen to each person's point of view and respect it whatever his religion he is, or whatever he thinks.

thanks.asbani

I am bothered by your post because it is inappropriate for this forum. Can I be any clearer?

Right. And even in sharia "law", Muslims make exceptions to things when they feel like making exceptions to them. It's the nature of religion.

I am currently studying international management, aand it has shown a few cases where sharia laws have held back the profitability of Muslim owned corporations, and lo and behold, somehow, a "less stringent" interpretation of certain passages in the Koran are found.

Man does what he wants to do. It's as simple as that. If the religion gets too strict for society's current tastes..it will be "re-interpreted" to reflect the changing socirty. So it is, so it has always been, through man's history.

1. Read what the original post was about
2. It is pool related
3. No one is cramming anything down your throat.
4. He was here before you were here. Look at the dates.
The original thread was not pool related...just gambling and religion.

If thats the case, then why aren't you railing the original poster about posting something that is not pool related???Why are you attacking me??

I am a Christian (Catholic), and I loves me some gamble. I don't think it has anything to do with religion. It's entertainment plain and simple. Unless you lie, cheat, steal, welch; I think you're alright.

That's a good way to integrate two different loves together. Well done!

Stated by Kerry Impson - "Most Christians I know don't gamble at all, however.)

Are you saying that most Christians don't gamble? This is kinda inferred in your statement. If this is the case, does most money spent on gambling come from Non-Christians? If so this is incredible.
