A real creep

I was not going to reply anymore to this but its beginning to be spun by people who do not know and were not there or are twisting things to be what its not. I do not plan on posting anymore in this thread because it really is just a sour thing for me, as I said Grady is a legend and I respect him and what he has done for the game and I hated to come on here and say he was wrong and not telling the whole story. I also am disappointed how it all turned out, what should have been a memorable weekend turned out to be a mess but how was Jimmy to know he was going to beat Grady and that Grady would be seething with anger over it.

Yea you're right bro......that was my whole point. For a legand to walk in the door and spit that kind of hot fire makes me think that Jimmy was really was on his "back heel" on how to go about playing that game. People are not giving Jimmy the respect that he deserves for adjusting and being more than willing to adjust more after the second set. And on top of that offering his money back the next day. I don't know jimmy personally, but i gather that he doesn't have to hustle anyone for some cheap sets. But still you have gone out of your way to make your point and still show ultimate respect to one of the greats in onepocket lore......props to you!!!!!!!

I for one did not know that Grady, Ronnie Allen, and John were to be in the Valley of the Sun last weekend. :shakehead: Had I known I would have tried to get over to see them play at Kolby's!

If nothing else I missed the chance to see some Great One Pocket Players, play the game I have fallen in love with. As some legends of the Game of One Pocket were in the Valley.:bow-down:

The sad part of this story is, the story has been posted AZB Forum for the World to see,:crying: and because I was there to witnessed what happened in person.
My only comment will be, ANOTHER SAD CHAPER FOR POOL.:thud:

another perspective

one pretty fundamental difference between boys and girls is that girls tend to look for common ground, areas of mutual agreement. and we tend to be more confrontation-averse.

so here's a suggestion -- naive and unlikely as it may be -- to reconcile the differences between the room owner and grady, two respected men.

the room owner sends grady a check for $1,000 (i think that was the amount of the wager between them?) plus another $1,000 in travel expenses (sort of like an appearance fee). grady thanks him, and returns the check.

they both agree to let some time pass, see how they feel and perhaps match up again at a neutral site with mutually-agreed-to-weight. or not.

to balance everything out, the owner also sends mr. henderson the same $1,000 travel amount (appearance fee). mr. henderson also returns it (having won three dimes, it's easier!).

just a thought!

Don't try to sell what ever your taking, you could go to jail.

Before I continue, what place is there where players wouldn't love to practice One Pocket with Grady Mathews? ... Now remember I just travelled 2,000 miles at my own expense to patronize his place. ... He beats me worse than I've ever been beaten in my pro career, to the tune of $1,000. ... This Gomer Pyle Junior Samples acting creep ruined my trip and he should be ashamed of himself

If you don't understand my position, the rightness therein, I can't be friends with you. Why wasn't my desire to not gamble and just practice honored? I certainly don't feel that I was treated like an honored guest. ... He embarrassed and humiliated me and I didn't like it one bit.

I completely disagree.

You chose to play. You could have walked away/out at anytime but you stayed and you lost -- it happens. I don't believe you acquire diplomatic immunity from the brutalities of the pool world whether or not you are/were a champion. You have certainly been on the delivering end before; claiming unfairness now is hypocrisy regardless of your age, reputation, or otherwise.

This attitude of repugnant arrogance and profuse entitlement is yet another catalyst to pool being in the deplorable condition in which it is today; older folks complain about how there ain't no money in pool anymore, meanwhile expecting the colloquial 'nuts' like the next guy/gal. The younger generation is vilified as if we weren't all just playing our part in this ever-repeating cycle of abuse.

It's likely you 'embarrassed and humiliated' plenty of people yourself over the years and, as usual, what goes around...

When I first started reading this thread and saw people sympathizing with Grady I was reminded of the Emperer's New Clothes.

Then someone pointed out that the Emperer wasn't wearing any clothes and I felt less sorry for the poor guy getting called a Creep in public for no good reason.

You lost me at confrontation-averse.

The best solution to this would be for Grady to sue Delta Airlines. He obviously ate some bad food on the flight and it threw his game off.

Under sunnyone's username it says "cum grano salis" which translates to "with a grain of salt".

I checked it too

Under sunnyone's username it says "cum grano salis" which translates to "with a grain of salt".

Under the suggestions on the side were some that would make a cue ball blush. Something to do with "cum" grano salis.
