A team of Professional Women v Amateur Men - who wins?

I wouldn't use WBPA, as they don't have the 10 best women in the world playing in it. Johnnyt

That may be true, but it is also safe to say that it has better representation of the best female players than the BCA masters list has of the best amateur players.

I have played sports my whole life, and a lot of time a males size and strength advantage would put them over the top.

Pool is a bit different, Corey Deuel has shown you don't need power to break effectively, so that rules out strength (not his his full break speed, but the way he utilizes the soft break many times). I don't see why any woman could not compete with any male in a pool game.

They can't compete in Chess either, and that takes ZERO physical ability. Heck, somebody else could if move your piece for you, if you had no arms ;)

Nobody knows why exactly, but Allison Fisher made some pretty good points about it during an interview.

She said men, by nature are more aggressive, and they take shots she would NEVER attempt in a match, but the men fire at them and make them a high percentage of the time.

It still does not make them any less of a person. They do something men could never do, bring life into this crazy world of ours. Men, on the other hand, are very good at snuffing out life. Hunting, murders, self-defense and even war. Heck, even most Morticians are men, not to mention the folks that "pull the switch" during an execution.
Just a fact, don't take it personally guys ;)

My wife could not even kill a spider, let alone shoot an intruder in the middle of the night. It's what makes her special, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She can't play pool all that well, but I'd give up playing pool forever if I could be more like her

I think the men win. Hell, I could assemble a 4 man team just from players in Houston and I'd back them against the best ladies in the world. Just my opinion...

I dunno
Which wimmins? If you are talking the top 2%, then it might be a pick em-IMO.

But if you start getting into the top 50, I give it to the mans.

I have played a few myself in smaller tourneys and while I can't say I won em all, i am pretty sure I'd like to play those that beat me every day, and that I'd come out on top at the end.

This. I kinda thought the same thing

Same, for me too, obviously.

I can say that one of the 3 name ladies came to our lil of' weekly event and went 2/out without winning a game...and left in a huff.

Too bad, she coulda played for about 5 more hours for free on those tough diamonds too. Practice mighta done her some good!

And I got manhandled by a girl, last tourney I played too...to tell the truth.

Are there ACCU STATS that might support how men and women match up?
From the matches I have seen, the elites like Chen Siming, Ga Young Kim , Han Yu, Kelly Fisher quite regularly TPA 0.9
The standard of women's pool has gone up a lot in past 10 years-
We talking about much higher standard than likes of Ewa Lawrence, Jeanette Lee in their prime twenty years ago. Alison Fisher used to dominate those days but if she was in her prime today she will not be able to dominate as much
If you have not watched matches of top women for long time tendency is to think they are like 2 decades ago but they are much better now. And they play 9 ft
:)

If we use WPA men's ranking as rough guide http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/rankings IMHO, the top women would be ranked 100+ 200+ maybe?
If 1st tier pros are Shane , Ko, Dennis and 2nd tier pros are Corey, Rodney then the top women would be around 4th tier pro

A team of Sha Sha Liu, Han Yu, Ga Young Kim and Siming Chen vs. the four best BCA masters players --- I'd pick the ladies. Put them up against the grand masters, however, and they are underdogs.
I would second that but also add that it would be about even in 8b and 9b v grandmasters

I'll play any female on the planet:

- Race to 30 10 Ball
- Straight Pool to 300 points
- 8 Ball race to 15
- Full rack banks race to 8
- One Pocket race to 8.

All for $1000 each.

OK, so you're Duke. Yeah, and he uses CTE and runs 100's like water. Nice job, Not bad for an amateur ;)

Ga young kim Allison, karen, Jasmine 2105 top women pros vs
kenneth Brisborn, Jeff abernathy, (top 2 2014 APA amatures) and 2 other top amatures I think the women would win easily.[/

There are tons of amateur's out there that can give these 2 weight and love it.
If you take the true top amateur's (there would be quiet a few with opinions on who they would be) then I like the amateur's.
Just my humble opinion.

If a team of 4 amateur male players (BCA advanced and masters only) played a team of 4 professional women in a Mosconi style format (for the sake of arguments lets say the top 4 in the current rankings) who do you think would win, or is it too close to call?

I don't have a strong opinion but I am curious to hear the opinion of the forum.

Cheers

The women would beat most of the players you've described in your post. But the best of the male amateurs would beat the ladypros. But you'd have to be a damn good amateur player to handle Karen.

If we are talking rotation games (9-ball/10-ball), I think there are lots of amateur men who can beat the pro women. For that matter, I'm sure there are many amateur men who can beat some of the Pro men. There also are amateur women who can beat some of the Pro women and men.

I don't know why everyone has to think that a "Pro" is somebody who ALWAYS plays better than an amateur. There are plenty of talented amateurs who, for whatever reason, never became a "Pro".

FWIW, I see and watch Allison Fisher when she comes here a few times a year and I'm sure a couple of our "amateur" men can give her a game without them being the underdog.

i would favor the woman, especially if its asian pro's. In europe I can only think of 2 woman that i would give the benefit of the doubt.
