Well, since there are so much bad stories and scams in this community as everyehere else,I have decided to post a really nice and an amazing one.
So,awhile back I had ordered a cue to be built from Jon Spitz. He had told me it would be finished in less than 6 months what was fine with me since I needed the cue for a very specific date.Few weeks after that he sent me some pictures of the forearm and after that I didn't ask him for more updates. The date of delivery was approaching so I sent him en email and asked him is the cue finished. However,he replied me that he appoligizes me and that he wasn't capable to finish it on time because he has some private problems and that he was moving from Illinois to Texas.I was kind of angry but said ok.It passed awhile and there was no any answer receiving from Jon till few weeks back when he told me that the cue is finished and he appologized me once again for delay.I was surprised with the fact that the cue is finished and very anxious to see it.However, the email from Jon came in the worst time for me because I was out of cash and hadn't have money for the cue at that moment.I replied Jon and immidiatelly after that I called him on the phone and explained him about the circumstances.
His answer was: "No problem at all.I will send you the cue tomorrow and you will send me money when you have it".This was so big surprise for me,even bigger since a deposit has never been sent although Jon has never asked me for.I asked him,are you sure Jon.Do you really find me enough trustworthy to do that.He said:"Yes,this isn't a problem at all. Also,I added some things more to the cue for the same price since you were patiently waiting for me and I was late with the delivery."
Very next day Jon sent me the cue and 10 days after I received it.The cue looks fabulous and it has met all my expectations and even more. All work on the cue is top notch and plays fantastic. The additional things that were added look fabulous and it looks gorgeous, indeed.Everyone who has seen the cue is stunned with the way it looks and those who tried play with it,with its playability.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jon for such a nice gesture and because he believed in me enough to send me the cue with not receiving any money from me.This is really rare this days and even me wouldn't suggest no one to do things like that. Finally,I sent Jon what I owned him and we are even no.Well, not so even but we are fine, surely better from what we were before the money was sent.
I found myself obligated to tell this tory in public and to let everyone know how great guy Jon is.
His amazingly kind gesture will always be engraved in my memory and will always find him rellay big gentleman and a great guy to do business with,to suggest him to everyone and the guy who isn't interested just to receive money from his customers but to serve them the best he can.
Thank you Jon for everything and hope that things are going to start moving better for you and that every next day will be better than previous one.
In a few days I will make a few photos of this cue so all of you could be able to see how beauty it is and to enjoy in it,not so much as I do,but at least a bit.

It's always nice to read a good post about a cuemaker:grin:.

Thanks.
And you have right,Jon is not just a good cuemaker but good person as well. This should be even more appreciated when you know that he is going thru a rough period of his life and that not receiving money he deserved could affect on him much more than in normal occasions and that could caused him even more troubles.

Pleasure

I had the pleasure of meeting Jon at the Windy City cue show several years ago, so this story does not surprise me. He is a sincere man with a passion for cue making and it shows in his work. He and his cues are Top Shelf. Nice to hear a positive story.

I strongly recommend you take some pictures of the cue and post it in the Cue Gallery along with this great story.

I have nothing but good words for Jon and his cue, his newer works have improved leaps and bounds and they were pretty darn good to begin with.

Thanks for sharing such a good story about AZ's finest. Now all you need to do and snap some pics and make lots of people jealous :)

In my 40 years of play, and 20 of collecting cues, I've never had a bad encounter with a cuemaker. Whether in person, over the phone, or more recently through e-mail exchanges, all of them have been very approachable, friendly, and willing to bend over backwards to make a customer happy. I've never dealt with Mr. Spitz, but it seems he's made of the same. Perhaps it's something in the finish those guys use?
