A whole new way to fail

In a state league tournament, my ball was tied up with the 8. We each had one other ball loose. Neither of us would mess with the cluster, we elected to bunt around the others instead.

It seems to drag on for hours. Finally I catch a break and he loosens them to the point where my ball passes the 8. I have to shoot over these 2 balls and drill in a shot at the other end of the table and have it follow back down to the foot rail, like 18 feet of cue ball travel :P

On my warmup stroke, my cue (which I was keeping very level for this tough shot) grazes the 8 and rolls it forward enough to tie up my ball again.

Under our rules, the opponent can move it back or let it stay there. He lets it stay. I have hosed myself and we go back to bunting them around.

Am I treetard or what?

Been a long time since I did something like that . . .

Friday to be exact! I went to kick into one ball and move it. Kicked a little short and broke up the other two balls in the cluster too and left the other player two sitting ducks in a one pocket tournament! That was the turning point of that game after playing a tight game for thirty minutes or so. Bad thing is the cue ball and other balls were all within a foot of each other. No excuse except a careless move on my part.

I got a better one. At the BCA Nationals two years ago, the score was tied 10-10 in a race to 13 on the loser's side. We had just made it to the final bracket.

I was playing really well, and I just knew that if I could get a shot off the break, I could probably get out. I broke and pocketed 5 balls, including the 8-ball. The table was looking ridiculously easy!!! I elected to spot the 8ball instead of re-rack. Well I didn't think about where the cueball was. It was sitting a ball's width below the spot. The 8-ball spotted and left me almost frozen behind it, with absolutely no shot!

Needless to say, it ended up costing me the game. OUCH!

So I am playing nine ball a few months ago for some good money. Hill Hill last two on the table. I shoot the 8 and as the cue ball is coming around it flips a pebble and just so you know the 9 was a duck well the cue ball rolls right behind the 9 about to scratch and stops. So I got the Cue ball in the jaws and the 9 about 1 inch in front of it. Tittie hooked and everything. What am i to do. Well I have a happy ending. He agreed to jumping before the start. So I start digging and I have it for once my sweet little toy the Dr. popper. Jump with draw and call the 9.

cuetechasaurus is officially a bigger treetard than I am, I feel better thanks!
It looks like he is finally in the green again, I'd gotten used to seeing the red squares.

Jackal, are you saying you jumped over the 9 that was 1 inch away from your cb (hanging in the pocket) and cleared it cleanly, then it just drew straight back (like a masse) and hit it? It sounds too good to be true. All I got to say is: YOUTUBE IT!~

may be wrong but I think he used a jumping rod

I may be wrong but I think the Dr. Popper is a jumping rod. Those jump better than jump cues but are generally outlawed these days.

My consolation was we ended up winning the match. That would have been tough for me to get over if we ended up losing from that point. The referee that spotted the ball was trying to fight back laughter when he saw my reaction, which was me shouting an expletive and slapping my forehead.

lol jackal... wtf is that popper thing... 4 ounces. So it's like a ski pole with a tip?! It doesn't even have a tip in the picture, it looks like it's got a big rubber cap on both ends or something. How's this thing work, how is it different from a typical jump cue?

PS cuetech: I won my match too ironically, I still had a ball left to bunt around :) In fact he ended up giving me ball in hand, I got super lucky.

That's not too bad.

A few months ago, playing an APA league match, I stepped to the table shooting high balls. I looked up and down the table to find the easiest out (with 5 of my balls fairly well spread out). After figuring the best possible path to run out (taking an obnoxious 4 or 5 minutes before shooting :D), I slowly approached the table. I knew that the out I had planned was the best possible scenario but it all hinged on whether or not I could pocket the 12 ball... the first shot.

Then, I gathered my confidence and bent over the table eyeing up the object ball with one thing on my mind... making that all too critical first shot. Getting shape for shot #2 would practically be automatic.

After a few practice strokes, I rolled the 'cueball' into my object ball and watched as my ball sank. Confident, I stood up and walked around the table to shot #2. I chalked and looked down at the leave. Only there was no cueball. In fact, the cue ball was at the OTHER end of the table. WTF?!

After a few moments... reality had set in. In my extreme focus on the object ball (or complete stupidity... you decide), I had lined up my shot on the 12 by using the 1 ball! NOT the cueball!!! Funny thing was, as I lined up the shot, no one around me really knew what to make of what I was about to do. So rather than stop me, they all just sat there with the same thought: "What the heck?! You're not really going to... " To late! I did it! I used the 1 ball as my cueball! :embarrassed2:

We weren't even sure what to do? Was it a foul? We weren't sure. By the time we got an answer, I was too embarassed and just gave my opponent ball in hand. Lol
