A word of caution. The Goverment does not take kindly to improperly documented "donations" entering and leaving the US.

I support some of your ideals, but not the way of execution. If you would like some free advice about this have your treasurer PM me and I will be glad to give some hints.

On a totally unrelated note, how are your members sponsers gonna take it when they dont show up to one of the largest tourneys in the nation? There are rammifactions of this boycot that are far reaching.

As far as I know , our sponsors are behind us . I feel the stronger and more united our player base gets the Sponsors will get tons of advertisement out of us ! Every sport has a strong players organization don't they ?
We are just beginning to put ours together We think long and hard before we do anything . We have lots of meetings to discuss problems in the industry and vote on our actions.

i do enjoy watching you all play but i think until you all get decent sponsorship $ and signed contractual obligations for your 'world class' play in my mind pool is nothing but a freelance or part time job. so i think some of you might be a little misguided thinking it is anything more than that. also i know you are trying to get a signed agreement with barry but who are your other employers that you have agreements with? unless you have signed contractual obligations for your services then you really do not have much leverage. people in the workforce have to sign contracts with their employers, pay taxes, ss, medicare, retirement, etc. you guys will need to do the same if you ever want to be a legitimate organization and do whats best for you in the long run. its a tough bargaining position you are in right now. i hope everything works out.

if you are talking about asia, the food is actually some of the most delicious AND healthy in the world. especially japanese food, they are one of the cleanest cultures i have ever come across. i highly recommend having an openm mind if you go again, and hopefully have a local guide (ie player) with you to show you stuff you may like. but im with you on the cost

I tried to stat out of this thread...BUT !!!!

I've been around pool my whole adult life & can see both sides...I've staked pros & shortstops in tournements plus gambling...The tourney side i can see the players point of view but looking at it on a gambling outlook I think they shooting their selves in da foot....What is it 36 years now & nobody got stiffed outright on their pay ? I got & had some people I've gambled with over the years that their word was their bond & always paid so If we ever did anything & they didn't have the cash I always let them play on credit...Not all by a long shot but certain people who always paid no matter what....On a gambling look at it if i was a pro player I'd try n work it out without all this...based on Barry's track record of always paying in the past...I know times are tough right now & people do things they normally wouldn't if the money was flowing..but the cruel hard facts are it just aint...I hope it gets resolved in a more positive manner than how it's being handled now on both sides.

Why would their be a 7 figure pool player? How??? Have you been to a baseball game? 70,000 people buying tickets to 81 home games buying $6 hotdogs and $9 beers.

Or have you been to the US Open 9ball championship with 300 people for 7 days buying $6 hot dogs and $9 beers?

Kind of a different crowd.

You don't seem to realize that they are acting as a group. Probably a great idea . To stay as anonymous as possible as it seems people are already targeting a couple of the members as though they are the only ones that are involved.

It does cost us that amount depending on where the Pros are flying from ! Europian/Asian players pay alot of expenses to come to the Open.

Call me crazy, but I think pool is more like rodeo than any other pro sport. I have photographed rodeos for a dozen years. One of my first observations, besides I better watch where I step, was that it's more a way of life than a sport. I think pool is a way of life for some people. I admire those that pursue it to that extent. I envy their skills.
I'm not sure how to approach this, but I think there is something to be learned from rodeo. Most everyone knows who the PRCA is, but there are countless small "pro" circuits all over the country. Then there's youth, high school and college rodeo.

While my wife was deployed I rode in the SERCA (Southern Extreme Rodeo Cowboy Association) and was in position to take rookie of the year (covered 9 out of 14 outs) when my wife found out and put an end to that.

But yes...you are right there are some definate similiarities.

WOW, by my count there is about 365 players on that list that can not play in Amateur events. Somebody should tell Barry Berhman that if the 41 players from the ABP don't show up he still has over 320 players listed right here that might want to play in the US Open.
