ABR have decided to air this special report from the Legends and Champions Report tonight due to Some of the information that Luke Riches gave us today on 2014 Mosconi Cup Tickets. We believe this is time sensitive to anyone thinking about attending. Te rest of the interview is very interesting also as there is info on Live broadcasting of Mosconi cup among other things. Please check it out now at www.americanbilliardradio.com

I just finished it. Dang, was that a boatload of info!

You and Luke discuss a TON @ the Cup. The 2014 selection process for both teams, things @ the 2013 Cup which predicated change for 2014, the environment and reasonable cost and appeal of attending at Blackpool, the new 1000 seat venue, the state of US Pro pool and Matchroom's potential involvement here, and on and on.

38 minutes of golden nuggets.

Thanks to ABR! Well done ole chaps!

killer, KILLER interview! your BEST to date, Mark!

BFDLAD: "if Matchroom could step in & take over - is there any possibility of Matchroom wanting to take over American Pool? because i think they could do it...."

PS - thanks for making Luke speak slower, so that we could understand his English.

Great interview. Best show yet IMO. A lot of info given out with more to follow shortly. Thank you Mark. Johnnyt

JAM tried to ask the 'tough' questions LOL

I think its interesting that Team euro will not be selecting their team the same way that we are. Seems like it might be better if both sides did it the same way so that nobody can whine later?

To Mark,
Thanks for throwing in my question to Mr. Luke Riches :thumb up:
Learnt a lot re; TV processes and TV Player Rights!
Pool's got a long way to go..!

Here is something funny for you, for a while I thought that you were Luke behind your screen name. You talk about Mosconi Cup and seem t know whats going on and Luke's daughter is named Bella. Anyway just saying.

For those that hadn't listened to it yet (it's archived for all, so get on it! :)) Luke discussed the reasoning behind the 2 different selection processes.

He said the two teams have such different dynamics in where they are, Matchroom felt 2 approaches were called for. He went into far more @ it than that.

I'm loving Mark W having this early opportunity to try and put 5 in the box that respond as one.

(that was funny how Luke responded to JAM's question about his relationship status)

Very Good Interview Mark. CONGRATULATIONS!

While Luke Riches didn't put all of his thoughts on the table, he did enlighten the listener about many things that we didn't know about. He also didn't close the door on any opportunities that might arise in the future.

I have to guess that he will be eager to see how the new face of the USA Mosconi Cup Team comes out and how it will be received by the public.

Sales of Mosconi Cup 2014 seem to be doing well, especially considering the event is 10 months away.

Mark Cantrill, I would like to thank you for bringing us American Billiard Radio.

With your connections to Europe, I would love to hear an in depth interview with Ronnie O'Sullivan in the future, if it is in the cards. While this broadcast is named American Billiard Radio, there are many of us who want to know more about the snooker billiard players.

Perhaps you could even interview some of the leading pool and snooker coaches of Europe.

I think the connection of billiards between Europe and America will grow even stronger with your insightful questions and broadcasts.

I want to wait until I get over this cold before I listen to the Billiard Congress of America broadcast.........Hope there is a beacon of light coming from their leadership.

Best Regards,
Joey Aguzin

Well thank you Joey for your kind words and suggestions. There is a whole crew of people as you know who work on ABR and everyone is learning for the most part as I have said before but getting appreciation is always nice to hear.
I am sure it is not out of the question at some point to bring on some Snooker players and or coaches. I would probably hand the coaches over to Scott and Randy to maybe talk with and see what the differences are in teaching styles between Snooker and Pool if any.

As far as players go I guess I would also have to see what kind of demand there would be to hear Ronnie or even Steve Davis. Trying to appeal to the masses ya know?

lol - I know a few things about pool, advertising, sponsorship, radio and other medias.
The real trick is getting the right ears to listen :thumb up:
I have a niece named Bella...

Luke has proven himself a great guy over the years on the forums. Was nice to hear this interview with him and to get his knowledgeable and honest insights on Matchroom, Pool etc.

Very interesting to find out that music rights issues / costs are the main reason the US doesn't get to watch the Mosconi Cup.

Another reason for me to dislike I.P. laws.

It's not IP its copyright.
Records labels own 'the sound' aka recording of a song by any particular artist on their label and get paid for any public use for any recording they own.
Smart business to be in...

A friend of mine was adamant that some rights on songs expire after 25 years. Not sure what that entails or if he was mistaken. Anyone know?

Pretty messed up that song rights are a major obstacle to the US getting a good stream or tv coverage.
