So I was really irritated because I have to be in California on the 30th, meaning I can't be in New Jersey.

But wait!

Pat Fleming is organizing an invitational 14.1 tournament right after the WC 14.1 at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ. It will be five players in a double round-robin so every player will have 8 matches and no excuses. The races will be to 60 points. Yes, that's short, which means every match will be exciting and probably under an hour. If the winner of a match is on a reasonable-length run when he gets to 60, he will get to continue for bonus money.

Players will be in vests and the referee will have white gloves on.

I hope to be there for the whole thing.

Question

Who are the five players. I may try to come and spectate. I hope Mike Seigel is one of the five, then I know I will be there.

Only 60 points? Damn, a lot of those games will probably be over without one of the participants even shooting. Should be interesting.

I don't know all of the players yet. I'm pretty sure Schmidt will be there. It would be nice to have at least one "old timer" in the five.

Is it a one day event? If so, I think I'll be there.
The 20 matches on one table will take four days, so it will be Thursday through Sunday, September 4-7. Since each player will have 8 matches, I'd guess that each player will have two matches per day, which is possible with a five-player double round-robin and five matches per day.

Okay, if it's one table that makes sense. So 5 matches a day at I'm guessing an average of 40 minutes per match. So about 3.5 hours of play each day to watch. I'm sure it will be great, but it seems like there should be more action per day. Or it should be a 2 day event.
Am I miscalculating?

I just got off the phone with Pat.

Schmidt, Souquet, Archer, Parica and one more to be determined. He said Parica was a 14.1 player when he first came over.

Accustats was going to do the commentary on the World tournament but that fell through so he did his own thing a few days later. Player review on the dvds. As someone said, the winner can continue to shoot, extra $500 for a 100 ball run, extra $1000 for a 150 ball run. Danny Diliberto and Billy Incardona will be the commentators.

I'm curious who, if any posters here will be coming in to see this event and possibly be available for a few friendly games after the spectating creates the itch to play? Its Sept. 4-7

Count me in. I'm looking forward to watching as much of this as I can, but I'd enjoy some side-play as well. PM me if you want to arrange something.

I'll be there most of the time.

Schmidt is trying to talk me into staying another week after the 14.1 Championhsips to attend this event with him. Two weeks with him could be to tough

If work schedule permits and airfare isn't to much to change, I'll be there.

Bob, are we set for the DCC this year?

I might be there for one of the days. It's a long drive though, so I'm not sure. If I do, I'd love to stay and play a bit.

Here is the official list from Pat himself:

Johnny Archer
Thorsten Hohmann
Jose Parica
John Schmidt
Ralf Souquet

I hear that Parica used to play a lot of 14.1, but in this group he has to be the underdog.

If I understand the Accustats email correctly, $12 admission fee per match gets you a free DVD of anything in their catalog. That's hard to pass up.
Since the event begins at 7 PM, I was hoping to go up there during the day to play all day either Thurs, Fri, or Sunday then watch all matches at night. I was hoping there would be an all day rate of $10 or so, but a fellow named Lombardo who played in the round robin of the World 14.1 told me they have no such rate there. Maybe a nearby pool room does.
