Action Challenge 2 !!!!!!!!

if you want to bet that hi lets wait and see what the details are and figure out an escrow account and do it off-line, I dont make my action public.

yeah, I probably wouldn't bet that high anyway because I don't know Shane well enough. I know that everyone praises his character, even Corey told me that in Atlanta a while back, but a $25000 payoff on a $10000 bet just doesnt make sense. If its 10 ball I will bet the dime at least though, for sure.

First let me say I loved to watch Earl when he was in top form. There was no better 9-ball player. I think Earl would be a bad match to put on now. He has too many issues, he hasn't played well in a long time, and he could self destsuct at any moment of the match. I just don't think Action Report can afford to take a chance in only their second match, that it will be another one sided affair. Bring a top name in that is playing good NOW. Someone like John S., Denins, or anyone of the top 9-ball 10-ball players. Johnnyt

i agree, they should make a game that will be a "game", it would serve them better.

i couldnt agree more johnny but it sounds like its a done deal:confused: it will generate a lot of interest for sure but only because everybody will want to see earl come unglued.funny but maybe not right for this format, imo.

From what we saw tonight, it had better be Busta if you want the line to be even money. Earl hasn't a prayer. Shane put 5 or 6 racks of 10 ball together at the end ! No kiddin'...Tom

I'll tell ya what I know SVB is playing outstanding but if they played nine ball and Earl was in old form I don't think Shane would have to like it. Earl could out gun the best of them back in the day. He ain't 5 Time US Open Champion for nothing folks. Lets not forget that. Yeah he is a little cooky now but he still has a pulse so I wouldn't count him completely out. Ya just never know with him. Just my opinion. :)

SVB will beat Earl if he plays like he did in this match with out a doubt.

However Cory didnt put any heat on him, Earl might, and if he does that might slow SBV down a bit.

Can a shortstop level player such as lil john get in on the action challenge vs svb getting something small in 10 ball, like the break or something???

I think with a lot of the gambling switching to 10-ball from 9-ball you are going to see a lot of different names on the top of the mountain. Johnnyt

Earl will play much better soon since he's back together with his wife, I and others feel like that has been his biggest problem and she is a good trainer.

I'll take Earls side in 9 or 10 ball allthough I am a big SVB fan

Leonard

Cory didnt put any pressure on SVB, he was free wheeling and the table was breaking easy, honestly when did anyone here ever see anyone make 2 balls consistantly on every break in 10B? Some pressure and a tougher table-things would be different.

exactly right, when corey let him get 8 and 10 games ahead then shane is supposed to play good and he did.shane played great and his a champion but i just wished corey could have put some heat on him.

earl the pearl

i think earl will do to shane what shane did to corey! ouch, wait stop the beating!! don't trash me , i just think that earl will shine in the same format. i also think he is hungry again. i do not know him personnaly but i have seen him many times and he seems to like the kind of atmosphere like the action challenge. the center of attention, thats him. now what he does in the spotlight may be a different thing but if his chemistry is right, i think it will be off to the races. i hope you can bet the v cash on it. ok start the bashing, i can take it lol.

I don't think the game should be 10-ball. If the match is against Earl, make it 9-ball, race to 100. "Color of Money" 2007! 10-ball I think would be a lock for SVB. However, 9-ball would make for an entertaining match.

Has anyone seen Earl play 10-ball? I'm guessing he'd be good, but the deteriorating break of Earl's would be at a handicap in the 10-ball game.
i don't think the break will decide it. it is harder to make a ball in ten ball. i don't think shane and corey made many balls on the break. they should make them break from the rail and not "in the box", that would be different. and another thing , the no jump cues. i think earl will love that. don't get me wrong, i think shane can beat any human and some non human(reyes) players on any given day. it will be a fight. the earl blow up will be good to, lol. hope he doesn't but ya never know. they should make a line on that.

So Shane will play Earl next. Interesting, but I wouldn't have picked this match for him. These days you just don't know which Earl will show up. It could be the "world beater" Earl, and it could be the "go off" Earl.

I wouldn't be so quick to count Earl out though. He has a higher gear than anyone ever in 9-Ball or 10-Ball. If he catches that gear, it doesn't matter who he's playing. They won't get to shoot. The question is, can he catch that gear again. I think if the stars line up right for Earl, they can. He has a good "coach" in Mike Gulyassy and the return of his loving wife. These are big pluses for him.

I will still bet on Shane if they play, because I have done well betting on him. But I will actually be more concerned about this match than his match with Corey. Corey just doesn't have the firepower Earl does. Earl has a big break and can string racks. Corey couldn't.

The key factor here will be Earl's state of mind. If he's right, he is actually a slight favorite. If he's wrong, he becomes a big dog. And no one will really know until they play.

I think Earl's ready for a match like this, but the way Shane's playing it is going to be tough. Earl's name will be a big draw though, good publicity. Hopefully will be many more good matches in the future. Is this like king of the hill...winner takes on new challengers?
:p

this is great news for Earl fans, we'll get to see if he STILL has the stuff

long race, no luck, no bs tourney rules and regs, Earl can be Earl, there will be no excuses

I've picked Orcullo and Corey so I'm 0-2 and pissed about that, but I say Earl goes nutty at some point and Shane pulls out the win

Sorry Chad and Justin. I love Earl when he is purely playing but all that other stuff is embarassing. I just cant watch when he starts belly aching and berating people. It was ok when I was a kid but I'm much older now and that kind of nonsense I wont pay to see. Hope you can get Orcullo or Alcano or Lee Van Corteza. Hows about some one pocket with Shannon, Frost, Cliff? Hows about some seniors Buddy, Grady, Billy, (does Keith qualify?), etc.
You guys are great though and will always get my support.

I totally agree. However I think the draw will be exactly to see what Earl does. Many of us will watch to see if Earl has a flashback, others will want to see what all the "fuss" over Earl is. It's the same reason that McEnroe brought many people to tennis. They had to "see" the bad boy for themselves.

I think that the point of the Action Challenge is the "Challenge". I think Shane should take on all comers right now and if that's Earl then that is who gets played. In the future, like boxing, perhaps contenders will have to work their way through to the top.

It used to be that these sort of matches would be a negotiation about the gate with the winner getting the lion's share.

Regardless of whatever else happens in pro pool I think that pool needs these type of match ups to invigorate it. For most of us these type of matches only exist in legend. There was a time when such matches were front page news.
