Action - EARL VS KEITH!!!

Okay... the title might be a little misleading. Earl will be playing Keith Bennett today here in Fayetteville, NC. Earl will be giving up the last 3 and they'll be playing some 10 ahead sets from what I've heard. They are supposed to start today at 5pm. I'll be heading up there to give some updates and possibly make a few side bets. I work nights and I have to be at work at 1am so I won't be able to sweat the entire match most likely.

I happen to think Keith has the better end of this matchup. What are all of your thoughts? I watched Earl play BJ a few weeks back and he definitely wasn't in top form. There should be a lot of side action there today. It seems like most people around here like Earl in this matchup but I think most people around here think he is the Earl of old. The 5-time world champion. I know Keith's backer said he is taking all bets.

So I'm going to sleep and will be back with some updates if this does happen to go off later on today.

Will this be played on a 9-footer or bar box?

I think Keith Bennett's best game is on the bar table, though I know he plays all games well. He did fairly well at the U.S. Open a few years ago, beating some great players in the event.

Earl's got the best of it with an ahead set, but giving up the last 3 is too much weight to give up to Keith Bennett, IMHO.

Who is steering Earl to these games?

Your thread title is quite misleading alright. You got Jennie hooked on your thread! :p

I hope Earl is using the "Hopkins" tactic of getting into some tough action to find his A game again.
I've watched COM (Hongkong) twice and it is to this day the greatest display of 9-ball I've ever seen.

It's more than a little strange that all of a sudden Earl is trying to be a money player again, after all these years. I feel like he has to be the underdog in all these match ups with seasoned gamblers. Who knows, maybe he will find his game again.

My read on all this, is that he just needs to find a way to make some money. His tournament fortunes are definitely on the wane. And his sponsorship evaporated long ago. What we may be seeing is someone who is "bottoming" out.

I really hope Earl finds his game, AND his lost marbles again!

Are the Hong Kong tapes for sale? The youtube clips make you want to see the whole thing.

I don't like the fact that if he is supposed to be so washed up and excentric, then why the hell does he have to give up these rediculous spots to good players. Hell, BJ just snapped off another pretty big tourney. I would love to see him gamble, but I hate it when he seems to spot a chunk and then gets trashed when he loses. Everyone knows that they are going to get a smash mouth trash talker when they agree on the game. That is just him being him.

I would love to see him get it back before the OPEN this year.

I'd like to know if it's a nine footer or bar box and who gets the breaks before I invest in Earl. Johnnyt

No spot

I think they should be playing even. Keith is a monster, lots of experience, great break, tough to beat for anybody.

I agree they should be playing even. The last 3 is too much weight for Earl to give up, bar box or big table.

McCready beat Bennett on a bar box a few years ago, playing even, BUT -- and this is a big BUT -- McCready has a designated breaker.

Earl needs to rethink this handicap, IMHO!

Once again I agree w/ you on this Jay, as I agreed w/ you on the Allen vs. Chavez game......

Jenny, you know as well as I do if Earl starts w/ his "OTHER" personality, he has NO chance of winning..........Last three???????????? LOL LOL

I like Keiths end of this. He is a great player and will never give up. I saw him make 7 balls on the break playing the 12 ball ghost a few years ago....the guy can play too. JMO.

IF,IF,IF earl shows up and plays his "A" game this isnt as out of line as you think.a champion giving up the last 3 playing 10 ball isnt a lot of weight.its less than he gave bj but like i said who knows how he will show up???

this is interesting, if Earl is anywhere near form he destroys Keith

question is, what is the motivation on Earl's part?
