I like Keiths side. He doesn't make too many bad games.
Just speculation, but is it possible that with his Cuetec sponsorship he wasn't allowed to gamble? Maybe now that he's not with Cuetec he can gamble again, and also needs to to make ends meet again.jay helfert said:It's more than a little strange that all of a sudden Earl is trying to be a money player again, after all these years. I feel like he has to be the underdog in all these match ups with seasoned gamblers. Who knows, maybe he will find his game again.
My read on all this, is that he just needs to find a way to make some money. His tournament fortunes are definitely on the wane. And his sponsorship evaporated long ago. What we may be seeing is someone who is "bottoming" out.

Another way to look at it, is how many times do you think that Keith would miss after making the 6 ball and not get to the 9 ball if there was no spot?
I think the 6-8 balls are pretty irrelevant for A+ players and above. I would prefer to have games on the wire, which is a sure win, rather than a possibility of a win, depending on how good your opponent shot, and if you got to get a shot at a spotted ball to begin with.
It's pretty obvious you are not going to shoot at all, or get 1 trip to the table in this matchup per game.
I thought Earl was being sponsored by a cuemaker now? But, yeah, gambling can 'Shock' you back into your game pretty fast, providing the motivation that tournaments don't do after awhile.
Pinocchio said:Keith went off twice to Chris Bartram at DCC last year. It was sad he looked helpless at times but he would come back with more money an do a repeat. I believe if Earl gets where he can knock off 3 or 4 of these shortstops in a row giving up weight I believe his game will jump up big time. Earl didn't used to be good he used to be great an I believe Earl still has a little left in the tank.

If you think about it, Earl is really used to giving up huge spots. Every time he misses, he rakes the table, so this shouldn't be too different.JoeyA said:IThese spots, especially when you aren't used to giving up the weight can be disconcerting and he doesn't need that extra baggage.

It is going to be played on a 9-footer and the game is 9-ball. It is not going to be at Little Reno. It will be at a new pool room called Kings Street Billiards that is VERY close to Little Reno. Keith is going to be the House Pro out of Kings Street in some type of capacity. I'm sure he's been playing on the table for probably two months.
If anyone knows "Skibo" from North Carolina I know that he wants to match up with Earl on the barbox if Earl is interested. He plays real sporty on the box. Not sure if that is the correct spelling.
I'm leaning towards making some side bets on Keith but Saw's comments do have me a little apprehensive about doing so.
