This question doesn't mean we have to bump this thread until Saturday, does it?

Snapshot9 said:But how many times do you think that Earl would turn over the 7,8, or 9 to Keith to shoot? Not hardly any, if that. When you get to a certain speed, which both are, getting the tail end balls of the rack just doesn't count for much because you never get to shoot at them.
Another way to look at it, is how many times do you think that Keith would miss after making the 6 ball and not get to the 9 ball if there was no spot?
I think the 6-8 balls are pretty irrelevant for A+ players and above. I would prefer to have games on the wire, which is a sure win, rather than a possibility of a win, depending on how good your opponent shot, and if you got to get a shot at a spotted ball to begin with.
It's pretty obvious you are not going to shoot at all, or get 1 trip to the table in this matchup per game.
I thought Earl was being sponsored by a cuemaker now? But, yeah, gambling can 'Shock' you back into your game pretty fast, providing the motivation that tournaments don't do after awhile.
no, the last 3 balls on the table are keiths and nothing is wild on the break.gopi-1 said:Are the 3 balls wild too? That would make a huge difference on a break...
I don't think Earl is that crazy...if they are I'm a nut job too for not asking. Johnnytgopi-1 said:Are the 3 balls wild too? That would make a huge difference on a break...

Word is from some of the people that have spoken with Keith directly is that Earl called and postponed the match and CHANGED the game from Keith having the last 3 to just having the 8 ball. They said he was getting the 8 which usually means it's wild but I am not positive. I'll try to find out for sure as soon as I can because I know that we have a few sweat bets on the match.
What do you guys think of the match now that Keith just has the wild 8? If in fact that is what he has. How much of a difference will that make in a long ahead set? I don't think that there is too much difference in the spots. With two players of this caliber I think the wild 8 could come into more than the last 3 during a long ahead set. But then again having the last 3 you can always push out and tie up your money balls.
Johnnyt said:In this case I don't think it makes too much diference...the last 3, the 8, or the wild 8. I think this game depends on the break and which Earl shows up. Johnnyt

The way I look at it is this, with the last three there is a lot of pressure to run out with four or five balls left. If you get out of line it can affect how you play. The eight ball will not show up as much in the end game strategy. If the eight ball is made on the break or early in the rack (a combo or billiard), there is essentially no spot that game. With the last three you've got action every rack. Against Earl (circa 2007), I like getting the last three more. That's how I see it.
