Admin Abuse Of Power

I’m so pissed right now. I’m going to rant a little. I’m selling off my entire collection of pool related memorabilia.

I’ve been listing quite a lot of stuff for sale while trying to adhere to the rules of the wanted/for sale section. I’m not trying to flood the first page with a ton of threads or trying to over bump my posts. I understand completely that we’re all trying to sell stuff.

The admin of the wanted for sale section (Cleiton) messages me and sends me a link to the rules. Great. Thank you. For at least a week now he has been deleting my posts and I don’t know why.

Rules state you can only have four active posts on the first page. No problem. If you look on the first page of the for sale section, I only have one. Want to know why? Mr. Cleiton keeps deleting my posts. Earlier, I had one one the first page. Then I made another one for some Brunswick cue glide cans. That’s two. Then I made a third for an Efren are yes poster. That’s three. Two were deleted.

I told him I was trying to adhere to the rules while using Tapatalk and it’s all one big continuous page. But then if you look at the online browser, it is 20 posts per page. Again, no problem. He then makes some shit up about only having four posts for the first 40 threads. WTF? That’s not what the rules say. Rules say four posts per the first page and I am complying with that!

I had one on the first page, I made a second, then I made a third. While we were talking about all this back and forth he went and deleted two of my posts so now I only have one on the first page. Fuck dude. Give me a break.

What pisses me off the most is that he allows other “special” people to bump four of their separate posts selling cues or whatever at a time and doesn’t delete those. But I have more than one on the first page and they get deleted.

So, is this what the forum has come to? An admin in a position of “power” to allow some but not all? Some people have to follow the rules and some don’t? I’m literally following the forum rules and I’m still getting my stuff deleted.

There’s two different people that each have three posts on the first page right now and those aren’t being deleted. And that’s fine because the rules say you can have four on the first page. So WHY THE F do my posts keep getting deleted.

Sorry for the rant. The abuse of power is just disgusting sometimes. And since he doesn’t want to respond via pm after being called out about being wrong and then deleting another one of my for sale posts out of spite, I’ll post it here. Can’t wait for this to be deleted too.

Well... The mods in NPR are so completely and utterly biased towards one side of the political spectrum, they don't even try to hide it, so... Yeah. That's AZBilliards forum for you.

i just know if someone has tons of posts on many pages then all the rest of the folks get shuffled back because of him.
that part of it would be courtesy.

and dont forget this is a private forum and the owners can change how they do things at any time for the best of the forum rather than one person's benefit that is using it for free.

personally i think multiple posts should be made in one post unless prohibitive.

**and for administration*** i think maybe sub forums for it one prices under 100 dollars or whatever to break up the tons of posts and bumps.

or ideally many sub forums one for cues only , cue accessories, and others for such. this would keep your post visible and make it easy to find what you are looking for as a customer.

and of course one for "commercial sellers".

the way it is now it is very tedious to even have a chance to find what you are looking for and the price as it is buried in the post rather in the title as it should be.

Good ideas. Are they practical? It seems that something is missing, but what? How do you force/encourage effective pricing? Goods should be moving through faster than Istanbul's Grand Bazaar.

"For the best of the forum".....

Lol.. Don't get it twisted, brah. It's not necessarily "for the best of the forum", but rather simply, "how mods wanna run things". Those are very much not the same thing. NPR is an absolute s**tshow of venomous political attacks, and mods make little effort to enforce civility on "both" sides.

I absolutely guarantee you that the way NPR specifically is run is very much NOT "for the best of the forum". More and more old timers I know simply swore off AZBilliards altogether because of the way that forum is run.

And I get "why" NPR tends to slant a certain way politically. Pool players in America interested in the game enough to come on a billiard forum tend to be a lot older, and from either the South, or less populated areas, because that is where pool is a hobby that retainssome strength. Which equals a lot of far right leaning people in this forum.

NPR mods basically let the far right run slipshod over that forum, because they tend to agree with their viewpoints. And I mean... If that is how the forum owner wants things to be run, then that's how they'll run. But it's not gonna really good for the "overall health of the forum". People being allowed to constantly troll each other breeds bad blood, and eventually, sensible people get sick of all the venom, and simply discuss the game elsewhere.

NPR is literally so bad, it can sour one on the entire forum.

im only replying to the pool forums not the idiots release of tensions forums.

if you dont like a forum dont go there. if you want make a constructive post about what needs fixing not a rambling complaint then do so.

price in title. then you dont need to dig throughout the post to find it. it is a simple change and easy to enforce by removing any post without the price in the title.
guidance goes a long way in solving issues.

Hey man... I am just trying to say... The mods run the forum the way they wanna run it... And there's not a lot of thought that goes into what is "fair", and for the general good fo the forum, in my experience. To me, that comes from the site owner letting their administrators justdo whatever they want. For this subforum, it works fine, as there are not a ton of super controversial subjects that come up, that admins need to flex their muscles on.

The Buy/Sale forum? Probably has an admin that has gotten tired over the long term of people who abuse that forum, and that colors how they respond to someone who is not yet in the "cool club". So... Not a ton of fair and balanced moderation there.

I am simply saying there are reasons why the moderators are not gonna be fair and balanced... And much of it has to do with them being allowed to run things however they like, because the site owner doesn't have much interest in the day to day functioning of the forums, and doesn't wanna be bothered.

There are certain rules that we try to enforce. Wiping out every conversation/point of view that you don't like, isn't on the list.

Please don't do that. You and I have had many, MANY conversations about this, and you know that I have zero problems with WHATEVER people want to talk about, so long as they do so in a polite manner. So don't play stupid that you don't know what my stance is on open debate. I'ma say it straight up. You guys in NPR don't even make an effort to force people to keep it civil. There are only maybe about 6 or 7 of us on the more liberal side, and most of us try to keep the discussion civil, but you let the far right run absolutely rough shod over the forum. You are the proud daddy of an echo chamber of your own making. Congrats! Have a cigar.

And you are very biased in how you apply what rules you DO have on record. Such as rolling up any anti-Trump topics into one single thread, which will inevitably squash any conversation on a specific topic, while you were much looser with pretty much anything the "other side" did, as long as they used a creative title, and you let their 20 attack threads a day stand during election season, while the other side basically got their voices silenced by the roll up. I called you out on it back then, too. You begrudgingly decided to roll up similar far right threads... Which lasted about a week, then you went back to letting the inmates rule the asylum.

You make it extremely clear which side of the aisle you come down on, and by your moderation behavior in that forum, you are not remotely balanced in your handling of that forum.

I get it. Much like a lot of whackadoo YouTube channels, you are pandering to the most prevalent customers, which tend to be far right on NPR. But don't pretend you are fair or balanced in your moderation. It's insulting to all our intelligence.

Yes, in the Main Forum. Seen me in NPR lately?

You are not nearly the negative influence in the Main forum as in NPR, because topics are not so divisive. Main forum is more or less self moderating. The one place that really NEEDS strong moderation, NPR, is not getting it. The forum you are responsible for, actually hurts my heart if I spend too much time there. Not because of any particular viewpoints... But because of how toxic you allow people to be there.

And I don't get it. What? You think the toxic trolls there in NPR that have been on AZB for 10 years or more, are what? Gonna just"stop" coming on AZBilliards if they are not allowed to act as they do now?

Again, you seem to be the one with the issue. NPR exists. I didn't create the sub-forum. The folks on the right side of the aisle have been hammered far more often than their left leaning counterparts. If Mike decides to do away with NPR completely, that is certainly his call. If you have a problem with the staff, contact Mike privately per the rules @azhousepro, and take it up with him.
As it stands, it seems that you've done the best thing that you can, for your own peace of mind/mental health...post elsewhere.

Well said. 👍

What is really insulting to our intelligence is how "f___" is routinely erased. A lot of times it is used gratuitously, etc., and needs to go, but other times . . .
The essence of my gripe is that the mods are stifling creativity. And, yes, I realize this place is the last place in the world to be artful, but if one throws an artful f___, it should remain for the benefit of those who just might appreciate it.

This is Mike's rule in general. We've tried to ease how we enforce the rule, based on the context in which the word is used. If it is used as an expletive directly towards another member, it's no bueno. We've given warnings to folks, and allowed some folks to edit the word, when the situation warrants.

Sadly I stopped sponsoring that.

If I had if my way, I’d have been still doing it. Greg Sullivan was in charge of it. It was tremendous. It was his idea, I give him all the credit.

The reason I had to stop it is simple, I went from making millions a year to losing millions in 2009-2012 and had to cut expenses all over the place. As the old saying goes “it was with a heavy heart I had to cut the Fatboy 10B event”.

Imagine the brand equity if it was still going? It was a long term vision which I never expected returns on, however had I been able to keep it going it would have been a hell of a brand. It’s still pretty cool.

The ones that get away in life. Hmmm🤔🤔.

Who knows I’m not dead yet, maybe I’ll come up with a plan B. Would be cool for sure.

I’m not keen on the MR product. Happy thr players have something to play in, I do watch some of those matches. The equipment and that goofy break(I understand why it is like that) are what I’m not keen on.

Best
Fatboy🎉🤩
You got me so hooked on that event, that I replaced you as the co-sponsor with Greg for the next six years. We expanded it to $1,000 entry, sixteen players and 16K on top! It easily became the most watched as well as the most popular event at DCC. You were in for the first two years that got everything rolling!

Can we please move this to NPR, it’s useless drivel like that. Check the receipts I haven’t logged into that cesspool in 2 years, maybe longer
Lost your degen mojo? 😉😁
