He says the pressure is always on him when he plays, given his collection of more than 70 international titles, and he is often challenged to a game.

"Everybody likes to play challenge games against me. Everywhere they want to play because they want to beat me," he said. "It's a lot of pressure for me. Other players like to play and I don't think they have that pressure."

"This is my job, playing pool. I make money through my sport," he said, before walking to the stadium exit with his cue bag over his shoulder.

A great combination....wizardry and humility.

When you don't brag, other people do it for you.
 
It's a shame there is no time machine that would allow the greats from various eras square off. Not just pool, either. Joe Lewis vs. Ali, for example...
 
A champion in every sense of the word! No bragging, just flat out brilliant play. Age has slowed his game a little but he is still subject to a "flashback".

Definitely my pick for Pool Hero. Great Attitude, humility and stroke. A Master in all regards.
 
Efren is washed up and has been for years. His performances at DCC every year are just luck.

Give him some weight in one pocket.
 
I've just experienced a glimpse of the future.......

A crowd has gathered around a table after a one pocket match.
They are trying to figure out how to play a difficult two-railer that the losing player missed
and left a cross-bank.
An old man shuffles out of the crowd....thin wispy beard, even thinner hair, has to be in
his late nineties.....looks like Lao Tzu.
He leans his cane against the table and holds out his hand for a cue.
His eyes are dim but as he fiddles with the warm-up strokes, they start to gleam.
As the cue hits the cue ball, it decelerates, allowing the tip to linger on the cue ball..
The ball goes from the long rail to the short and checks back table length ....
....drops into the pocket at perfect speed.

With a faint smile, he lays the cue on the table, picks up his cane, and shuffles towards
the door.
A young man blocks him and sets down a chair.
He says " Efren, you must tell us about pool, not just for us but the generations that will
follow."
A college student appears with a notebook....he writes on the first line...
....The Tao of Efren.........
