ok call me retarded here. im reading the "wanting more action" thread and was wondering....what does 12 ahead mean? race to 12? im young, please educate me ;)
thanks,
jay

Hi, its simple. You just keep playing until someone gets 12 games ahead :)

To elaborate a tad, say you and I are playing and the score is 4 to nothing in your favor. If I win a game, I would simply take one game off your count rather than scoring a game to myself. So you just need to keep one score and know who's ahead. It could go on for a long time... forever even ... :)

I have seen a 10 ahead set over in 45 minutes and a 6 ahead set last 41 hours.

So Jay, since we have the same name, we should play even. What about a Ten Ahead Set for pink slips?

12 heads? can this be right?

40 MPG? Right?

Well I have a Huffy 3 speed, that will go 30 mph downhill. Let's get it on.

Maybe you 2 would like to match up and play on my pool table? :)

It's a pretty good way to gamble if the bet is large. Typically, you look at it in this fashion: $50 per game, ten ahead for $500.

What I like about it is the better player has the best chance of prevailing. What I don't like is some players are better at marathons than others. I have done this before and found I can start to lose interest after a few hours and get sloppy.

It's important to figure out and state in advance what happens when the room closes if it becomes a marathon. In that case, my preference is to have the bet paid based on a per game. So if someone is 4 ahead at 2 a.m. and the room closes, they keep $200. But you can also have it that nobody wins unless they get 10 games, or the match continues the next day until someone gets 10 games.

Always post the money and state the exact agreement to the thrid party when you play ahead sets.

Chris
