Aiming - My final thoughts

John I hope you rethink this, with all these stupid threads ridiculing aiming systems they evidently miss them.If they can not get educated then they turn into teen age girls and try to provoke.Well I am provoked. They try and say CTE is bull, but I have yet seen these wise men do anything but shoot their mouth off.No titles among them, they have to refer to he said she said BS.Why is their way better? What makes them an authority ?They just think they know and anything they do not understand they ridicule .If they can not show me a championship title or credentials, then they are just another nobody period, with nothing more than an opinion about something they know nothing about.Hell they can probably tell you how to build your cases

Petey,

If we do what you say then we're lumped into the same sarcastic, closed minded group. I don't have to run with the pack. I respect another's point of view when they respectfully present it on the forum without the all the posturing and tough talk. You can say something without telling somebody they're a piece of crap and if they don't agree, let it go. Poking fun, woofing and howling is an art form. I enjoy the he!! out of that. Being a smart a$$ is not.

There are alot of decent people here that post with some great information and others that do everything they can to be helpful. They seem to fade away because the loudest mouth in the group usually gets the most attention and chases them away. It doesn't matter their content posted. They don't understand how to belittle someone and their point, so they end up lurking with minimal posts to not cause repercussions from the PITA's.

You won't find my name on the member's list here. It's not worth the effort to wade/sift through the soap opera that happens instead of a bunch of adults discussing a topic. To some, thank you. To others, get a dictionary and look up the words "mutual respect".

Best,
Mike

You're still going to post on other topics though, right? We like having you around these parts, John.

Spot on!

Mike-

Another fine post.

Take care

John is not the only one that feels the way he does. I have received P.M.'s that others are fed up with the way this forum has gone, and are done with it. Some of them being well known and respected posters. And, as everyone has noticed, there are a number of good posters that very seldom post anymore.

Like BVal. I sure do miss him and his postings!!!

You are quitting?!?!

DAMN!!

<----just lost $20.

More power too you. Good luck with your yahoo group discussion.

You know.....

I just decided that if I don't see some redeeming quality in your posting ( and I mean very, very soon ) I am going to relieve you of your posting privileges.

I am beyond tired of seeing nothing but negativity spewn from you.

Please consider this your final warning.

Coming from someone that does more lurking and less posting it probably won't mean as much but here is my $.02

I used to enjoy spending time on here reading through information, advice, and good natured banter. It seems like the forum has regressed to a high school locker room where the "cool kids" pick on other people because that's all they know how to do. I for one was looking forward to the thread on CTE that John started when he asked for people to respect it and not drag it down. I was dissapointed to see how quickly the nay-sayers came in and started doing their thing again. Needless to say, I don't think I ever made it past page 2 of the thread because I didn't feel like filtering through the crap to find the posts from people who were actually trying to contribute.

You have a lot to offer and hope you stay around, but definitely understand if you never open another "aiming" thread again.

Thanks

John,
Thanks for trying. I've found the discussions/posts (minus a few) to be very interesting. I don't know if I will ever fully understand CTE, or 90/90 aiming, but I have had a blast trying them out. It actually got me away from my lathe, and back to playing a bit. Thanks to all you guys (Dave, Mike, Hal and the rest) for that. I hang mostly in the CUE section. I do cue repairs, and have found a weath of helpful info there. Many have different ideas on how to do the same repair. If I read something that differed from my method, I'd give it a try. If I didn't think it was an improvement, I'd go back to my way. This aiming experiment/learning is the same for me. It's a beautiful game, enjoy! Thanks again. Mikey

I would be personally devastated if you stopped posting.
Your 'how would you play this' threads are teriffic.
We are theologically on the same page.
I've enjoyed you humour (like the 'dog-house' post).

If you did the math on negative posts versus positive
you are way ahead.

And consider the viewing figures. Not everybody posts
but a lot of us read.Us lurkers got rights too.We demand
that you continue.

So much in life is like a library. All the aggravation is there
but so is all the good stuff.

I extend these feelings to JB and the Cowboy also.
If you totalled all the viewings of your posts you just
might put your value to this forum in perspective.

I also believe in freedom of speech (somewhat)
Therefore i don't mind the cranky ones like SS.
We need some vinegar with the honey.

JB Cases started a YAHOO GROUP for those who wish to lern, and share information about CTE. Eveyone is welcome to join, if they can keep the conversation positive!

I agree completely!!! Please don't stop posting, Neil. It would be a great loss to a great many of us here. Please feel free to extend these thoughts to those who stopped posting, as well. Those of us who appreciate you helpful people, as well as the lurkers, FAR outnumber the trolls.

Those who make the most noise are usually less than 10% of those particpating in any endeavor, and this forum is undoubtably no exception to that old rule.

It is my belief that ALL aiming systems, help to improve FOCUS.

The CORE TRUTH is that aiming systems WILL HELP SOME PEOPLES GAME, and in some cases, A LOT!

The other part of the CORE TRUTH, is that aiming systems WILL NOT HELP SOME PEOPLES' GAME.

And finally, no aiming system is going to make you a champion.

Oh yeah, one more thing, this Main Forum is about the discussion of billiards and that includes aiming systems. :D
Brilliant! I agree ... on all counts (including the last).

BTW, here's an even longer list of benefits an "aiming system" can help provide.

Regards,
Dave
