Alex & SVB Score Thread

thats good of shane to keep the score close for the sake of TAR. Help them sell tickets for day 3. Compared to his TAR matches with Cory and strickland a 10 game lead coming down the stretch would be a nail-biter!
I really hope you're kidding here. Alex turned his game around, and started putting the screws to SHane In no way is there any lemonade going on. I guarantee you that. Alex played nearly flawless in his comeback ran, especially during the safety battles.

I agree Jennie. Hell, i'd be happy to pay for just the chat if it were possible just to keep up with the action.

I KNOW that Justin and Chad aren't asking for charity or guilt tripping those who don't buy the feed.

I jsut get a little edgy when people start labeling others as "cheap" or "nits" when they don't buy the feeds. I guess it doens't occur to them that people might have lives that aren't conducive to staying up all night long through the morning sweating pool online.

I will tell you why I didn't buy the feed this time. I spent this weekend neglecting my lovely wife to attempt to watch the Frost/Appleton match. Out of two days of PPV I had ONE hour of good video and audio. But I had no chat during that time because it wouldn't come up. Then the video died and basically gave me three seconds of motion every 30 minutes or so. So I said no more until I am in the States and can see if it's just a China thing.

On top of that I don't want to sit and watch pool online while my people are working - it's a bad example. So I elected NOT to spend the $25 on TAR this time.

However I did give Accu-Stats $6 for the Archer/Louie Roberts match and I am looking forward to watching that and hope it will stream well since it's also on Audio Video Web.

And - when I win $100 from Corvette after Alex runs two 25 packs I will probably spend it all on TAR/Accu Stats and pool stuff. :-)

JB,
I hope that is $100 that you will never see, as I have over a dime bet on it now. I never watch the entire match because I have to get up and go to work, but the couple of hours I do get to watch is well worth it each time. For those that can't afford the $25, I understand the non-purchase. I also understand it if you simply want to do something else. What I do have a problem with is the ones that will watch the free feeds and then stay up all night following the update thread and CAN afford the $25.

The same people argue about supporting pool and everything, but when the opportunity is right in front of them then they backtrack. TAR is the best thing to happen for pool enthusiasts in a long time. It is a chance for people to watch LIVE pool action in their own homes at a very cheap expense. The feed is great and hasnt messed up one time in the last 3 PPV's for me.

Very well stated, John, as usual.

It is assine for someone to state that because somebody else doesn't purchase a TAR broadcast that they are not supportive of pool. In fact, it is insulting, but that is the purpose of making comments like that -- to insult.

Hope you enjoy the Archer-Roberts video! :)

Fred, you are doing a great job!!!!! Besides being the only one who pronounces the Filipino names correctly it is a pleasure to hear you and Ken and others analyze the game so well. Scott Frost was also very articulate and insightful. All of you are doing a hell of a job. I know people will enjoy not only the matches but your wise commentary when the DVD comes out. Makibaka!! Salamat Po!!

I heard from a number of people that, at least fairly recently, TAR was in the RED and their long term viability was in question. Right now, I see a crew of guys who are only doing this because they love the game, love the action and are basically contributing their time and money to keep this going.

The bottom line is that if you like what TAR is doing and want to see it continue, you have to support it financially. All the well wishing and forum messaging about how great they are will not pay their bills to continue doing this.

I understand your opinion, but as was stated earlier in this thread, it does not do any good for posters to use bullying tactics by labeling other posters as "cheap" or "nits" or "not supporting pool." This doesn' t do anything to help elevate TAR.

Let me state at the outset that it is not TAR staff who are making these ignorant statements.

I don't have to support anything financially unless I want to. I have financial problems myself, some of which was caused by my love of pool.

Again, I understand your strong thoughts on being supportive of TAR, but maybe those who keep making comments that others are cheap and not supportive of pool if they don't purchase a TAR broadcast need to quit using these tactics on this forum, especially when they are false. These kinds of statements are insulting to those of us who do support pool. Just because I don't purchase a TAR match does not mean I am not supportive of pool, and I resent anyone who states otherwise.

I would say that when its gone everyone will regret not supporting it more, but then again it doesn't matter to the ones not watching it anyway does it? Logic 101.

WRONG.

Logic 101 should dictate that people do not need to read comments that they are not supportive of pool and/or are cheap because they have not purchased a TAR broadcast.

That is what matters on AzBilliards Discussion Forum.

Sorry. As you probably know, AZ was down for a little while (at least for me). Alex ran out and missed a straight in 10-ball. Jk. He won that game , but I think Shane won the next one, to make it a night at 70-63 Shane!
Holy cow. I went to bed around 3:00am (ET) and Alex was still down like 18 games. Amazing comeback. Can't wait for tonight's feed. It should be classic.

I hope you didn't do that. That's the first time I've worked with Jay and he didn't disappoint!

My normal partner Ken Schuman went to bed at this point and asked me if I was going to stay for the whole thing and I told him that since it probably wasn't going much longer, I would. He'll never believe how great this set turned out!!!

Fred Agnir
Fred, I just have to comment on your commentating. It's great! I'm very impressed. Keep up the good work.

Oh, Jay and Ken were good too. ;)

I do not and will not use Paypal or CC online and until TAR offers a way to purchase their product using check or money order, I have only the update threads to keep track of the matches.

If TAR would offer a way to set up an account that I could pay into, in advance and then they could debit my account when I wanted to purchase a live feed, I would prepay up to $200 in advance.

Until then I must settle for updates that are only avaliable because TAR does what they do.

So you are wrong that because I do not purchase and watch the PPV's that I would not miss the PPV's.

Steve

ps
FTR I do not watch the "Free Feeds", because I have been made to feel like a cheap nit.

I hope alex wins just for the sake of the dvd set. Overcoming the bad rolls, playing after the tournament, etc.

TAR would be wise to listen to what is being said in this thread. Multiple payment methods will increase sales, no question. imo TAR should explore three more payment options:
1) Google Checkout
2) mail in form
3) Online billing companies such as paycom.com / ccbill.com . These companies offer payment methods with Credit cards, bill to your phone and online checks.

Im sure TAR would be more than happy to set up a prepay account for you. That would be very simple. All you have to do is ask them. If you want to get the one tonight I would be more than happy to pay for it for you and then you can pay me back or send me a check whenever.

This is just an FYI for Steve or others who would like to use a credit card online but are worried about the number being stolen.

I was worried about the same thing so what I did when I started playing poker online was go to my bank and get a prepaid Visa card. I only put money on it when I am going to make an online transaction so if someone does get the number any charges that they try to put on it won't go through. Not all banks have these cards so you would have to check with yours.

I should use this card all the time and then I might not run up a balance I can't pay off some months on my regular credit card, lol.

Thank you to all who have posted updates on the Alex and Shane match. I would love to be able to buy the PPV but because of work and family obligations, I do not have the time to sit and watch it at my computer for hour after hour. I am not cheap or a nit! I would love to be in Vegas right now watching it in person. I buy almost every match TAR puts out on DVD and support them that way. Justin and Chad are awesome and if we continue to support them, they will only get better at what they do!

GO SHANE!!! Show the world you can not be beat in 10 ball race to 100 for any amount of money!

Goo idea, thanks for that info. I'll not have time before tonight's match, but is something I'll check on for sure.
