Allen Hopkins Presents: Team DMIRO Nationwide 10 Ball Tour

Dallas

Well if that is it, then I think we can do a small stop there, see if the rooms in that area will add $1,000 and we can do 32 max.

This way out Texas pool players can have a tournament too!

Texas has too many tournaments now. Texas should have their own tournament thread:angry:. Only kidding. Texas is a great pool state with a lot of tournaments and good players. I just wish Florida would have bar box tournaments. Johnnyt

Bar Box

I love bar box events... You should go to Valley Forge this weekend for Allens 8 Ball Bar Box event!! It is going to be great, (hopefully I finish in the money) haha

Update

Check the main post there are 3 confirmed stops as of this afternoon. Thanks to EVERYONE for helping out, there are more I am working on right now.

Ok - I am not living in New York anymore, so Mike Andrews can you give me (us) some background info on yourself? I tried AZBilliards or google and couldn't come up with anything.

Thanks

Also, will there be a tour finale of some sort?

$100 entry fee - are there green fees or is this 100% payback?

About me huh?! Well here is my story...

I am a Navy Veteran, I served overseas as a Police Offier in the Military. I got out and worked for Homeland Security for a while, then started working as a Fraud Investigator. Then I got married. (Mistake #1) After being married for a few years I was a lead investigator in DC for one of the largest Private Investigations Companies. Then I got divorced, spend ungodly amounts of money to start my own P.I. Company. Then the stock market crashed and I lost a lot of money. SOO I did what all heartbroken people to, I started drinking in bars, way more then I did in my earlier years. Started shooting pool... lol... Then after the last Expo I approched Allen with this idea for a Nationwide Tour, and with my sales and marketing experiance, I knew that I could advertise this properly get people interested. So... thats that! I am probably a B level player, I shoot every week at my local pool room, I have "donated" my money to some other pro/am tours in the area.

Cue: Hammon Custom Cue, Kamui tip 19.5 Oz
JB: Cuetec Jump Break
Jump: Jacoby
Case: I duno 4X8 Something...
Credit Card Number: **** oh I guess I'll leave that out! LOL

I fell in love with the game, it is as simple as that. And after only shooting for about a year I can run a few racks of 9 ball. (it's nice to shoot on a brand new 9' Diamond Table 8 hours a day for about 6 months!!!!)

As far as the pay out, there of course will be green fees like all the other tours. 10.00 per person, given back to the room owners from their money they ad. All the other tours work it that way...

HOWEVER, If I get the sponsor I am working on, we are adding an additonal $1,000 per stop! So that is $2,000 added! BUT Don't quote me on that as of yet... It is still in the works...

The top 5 players in each city will be invited to the Super Billiards Expo March 2010 for an invitational only event, with money added. Not sure on the amount yet Allen and I are still working on that! BUT it will be from $5,000 - $25,000 in that rage. WITH NO Entry fee...

Problem is we need to secure the dates for some of our sponsors to PROVE that we are going to have a tour, so I have to get that all in place first... I do now have some sponsors, who have trusted the fact that we are going to make this happen.

It has NOT been that hard with Allen being a part of the tour!

Mike

Thanks for the explaination and the information. I wish you the best.

25 stops seems like alot of stops but I see it more as a qualifying event for the Free Entry larger event. Nice bonus to the top five in each event even if they have to pay there expenses.

At first I thought this was a Pro tour but I see its not really that. However that could evolve.

Hopefully you can get the stops and build interest with your sponsor and other sponsors.

One question --- Do the individual rooms need to run the events themselves?

I think all of these little tours should stop popping up and someone take the sponsor money and start a real tour. Must be a 1,000,000$ a year in sponsor money with all these tours. $1200 for 1st doesn't go far and no one could win 1 per week to make a career. Anyone ever take the time to add up all the money in these little events to get an idea of the total sponsor money?

One of the things I like about this new tour is that they are not trying to start with $100,000 tournaments. They have learned from others mistakes over the years. 25 smaller tournaments that have a good chance to grow into larger ones make a lot of sense to me. If 3 years down the road they have 20 $5,000-$10,000 tournaments a year, everyone will be kissing their ass...and should be. I say more like 20 $10,00to $25,000 will come of it. Johnnyt

You are very right, but you also know that tours, promotors, and players would have to get together for that to happen. Another words an org. Johnnyt

You hit the nail on the head. We have to start somewhere. The second year, we are hoping to grow but only time will tell how much we can actually expand. Everyone would love to have a nationwide tour that you could make a career playing in. We would love to make that possible. At the present time, however, we have to take it one step at a time. The first year will be a time for us to get our name out and build a good reputation. The second year, we should be able to add stops, gain more sponsorship and have larger tournaments. We have some great plans for the future, including some higher paying events, but we can't make it to tomorrow without today. We appreciate everyone's support and hope that everyone appreciates what we are doing. We look forward to seeing all of you on the tables very soon.

Info

Well this is going to be a pro tour. We have to get past the first year to prove to the sponsors that 10 Ball is the game! We feel that 10 Ball is where the game is going!

Others have tried 8 Ball and failed. Plain and simple.

Someone said we need to have MORE tours and MORE Tournaments to keep money in pool players pockets. Allen and I are all about our players and we want to see rich players.

We plan on having a mid season event at a large casino, I am still working THOSE details out too. BUT as I said I have to get the rooms booked now, to prove that I have a tour and the sponsors will keep rolling in.

Put it this way. Last night I made this posting, and today I have had 4 sponsors contacting me. So it is going to sell it's self.

Yes

Yes, Yes it is!!!

They all will be comming out of the woodworks soon. What was funny is one sposnor I e-mailed then TWO MONTHS AGO! And never got a responce, and all of a sudden they e-mail me.

But hey thats kool at leaste they know NOW the tour is on! ( Now that Ihave BUSTED my butt getting everything in place )

Funny

Funny that my Geoff and I where on posting at the same time. We just left our local bar after shooting 20-30 games of 8 ball getting ready for this weekend. ( I won ) lol...

Geoff is anouther partner in the tour, he will be here in New York while I get to drive ACROSS the country holding the tournaments! Geoff will be the support agent, so if players need something from the tour, or want to pre-pay their spots, order products and such Geoff will be taking care of that!

8-Ball as the game played by the pros on a tour did not fail. The organization that chose to have a pro 8-ball tour failed to live up to it's promises. In spite of that they did pump more money back into the pool economy from outside the pool world than just about every other entity that has put on tournaments. Yes, they ripped off a lot of folks through $2000 qualifier entry fees, yes they raised the hopes and dreams of pro players to previously unthinkable levels and then crushed them with a spectacular flame out. If they had succeeded in flipping the tour to a larger company that could have secured real television for a couple seasons then we would all be trying to qualify on the 8-ball tour right now.

I don't think it's a question of 10 ball vs. 8-ball - rather 10 ball vs. 9 ball. I can tell you that depending on the rules used 10 ball is WAY harder and way less attractive to amateurs when going heads up against the pros. Having just watched the women's 10 ball and the China Open women's 9-ball back to back I can tell you that 9-ball is waaay easier and rewards the person who gets the rolls way more.

If this is going to be a pro tour then there should be more than 2000 added because you will be hard pressed to find a lot of amateurs willing to donate to the pros at $100 entry fees. At least this is my opinon based on what I have seen with the tours that use the easier game of nine ball.
