I wanted to thank Glen and all the mechanics who showed up in Alsip. It was great to finally meet face to face. The glue down bed cloth system that Glen demonstrated in conjunction with his measured lay out is the best method of achieving consistent results I've ever seen!

I would like to personally thank Pat O' Donnell and his crew for their professionalism and calm through some early chaos. Jack Zimmerman for support and sharing Glen's methods with everyone and for putting up with my snoring...LOL. Howard Lee for saving me from being the oldest guy there...LOL and being a great new friend. To Josh and Don for hanging in there to the end to finish things up, you guys are awesome!

To all the mechanic's I had the opportunity to meet and work with, I hope we meet up again in the near future.

Thank you, Jay! It was an absolute pleasure getting the opportunity to work with you. How did it feel to learn so many new things after being in the biz for as long as you have? ;) What an experience!

Get in touch with me and Don the next time you're over here in Ohio. At the very least, maybe we'll meet up for lunch or something.

Josh and Don, As I mentioned earlier you guy's were great to work with! We did have the advantage of working with Glen one on one. The thing I came away with was that Glen had really found the methodology to produce the most consistent and repeatable finished product period!!! After a lifetime in this trade it shows me that you have to keep learning and improving your skill set in order to provide the best product.

I also picked up valuable information from many of the other mechanics that attended. I'm incorporating much of this new information into my service procedures. It just points out to me how valuable information is. During my 39 years of servicing billiard equipment it's always been about trying to do a better job as efficiently and consistently as possible. That can only be accomplished through experimentation and the exchange of ideas. More importantly the willingness to change your way of doing things when a better way is presented. I'm willing to leave my comfort zone with a familiar process on the spot if I'm shown a better way of doing anything. This extends beyond the billiard trade, it's my philosophy on anything in life. In a nutshell, "Better is Better".

This was Glen's show, put together with Glen's contacts at Simonis and Diamond. I'm hopping in the near future to share a few tricks of the trade I've picked up over the years, possibly for inclusion in the DVD series Glen has coming out soon. In the meantime I'll be happily working on my new installation techniques with a big smile on my face while doing so!..

Work on them Valley style cushions the way I showed you, and stop doing them so hard the way you showed me how you recovered them and you'll be having a great time on the next bar table you recover too:D

united we stand

it was a great experience in alsip....those mechanics who could not make it I feel sorry 4 u because there will not be another one like it...everyone got a lil one on one with glen here and there or at one point of time...everyone there saw history in the making..... great mechanics with great knowledge in billiards filled the room....not many realized that Ivan and Greg were there...yes 2 of the top dogs in the industry was personally there...would of been nice to see Brunswick there considering the gold crown was the highlight of repairs

Who has 4.25" side pockets?

I watched Glen glue down two tables and was amazed at how well the glue system works and how much easier it is than staples.... and more staples.... and MORE staples.

Is the cloth on your table still tight?:D

Curious here, to know why Brunswick would take interest in this. Isn't Diamond the only company going to glue only?

Hmmm, well, the reason Diamond is switching to glue only is because they want to get away from using MDF or partical board to back the slates in order to install the bed cloth using staples because it falls apart over time on EVERY table its installed on, so yeah...I see your point, Brunswick would have no interest in making a change for the better....for the customer in the long run and save themselves some money in production and turn out a better product....you're right;) I guess that's what makes Diamond different..."Better";)

Tight? Is it tight?

It's so tight you can SEE it's tight. It's tight like a well tuned snare drum. It's tight like a tennis racket. It's tight like a hoe's nylons. It's tight like OJ's glove. It's tight like.......

What customers are you referring too? I can see the benefit of using this system in the commercial environment because of the frequency of cloth change. But where are they gonna find trained and knowledgable mechanics to perform the service across the country? You are off to a great start with your initial seminar, but what about Joe the homeowner. I for one would not care for the odor from the glue and and where would I find someone capable of doing a good job. And I would want a written guarantee for the life of the installation.
You are off to a great beginning and I hope the end result is good for everyone.

I don't recall inviting any table manufacture, but Greg Showed up because he cares, I'm sure someone at Brunswick is on AZ...what do you think?;)

What kind of guarantee are you talking about? That the cloth stays on tight OR what? I'm working on the problems you mentioned, everyone will find out what I'm doing soon enough;)

Glen

PS. What guarantee did you get with the last cloth installation you paid for?;)

I'm kinda upset I missed out on this... Josh told me about it Thursday evening and I just didn't have enought time to plan it out. Anything planned for the future?

Yes! Although the format might be different, the seminars will be an ongoing process. Glen told me the completion of the DVD series to support the seminars is the next step in this on-going program.
