Alternatives to AZ wanted/for sale??

All new threads should be locked immediately, with clarification by pm.

Oh, and anyone that puts 'priced to sell' on the title shouldn't be allowed three pages of bumps, either.

We COULD police this forum ourselves! All it would take is to start a thread "Forum Abusers" and post the violators in this thread. Then everyone could red-rep them. Maybe after they are "lit red" they would get the message!

What mods need to do is delete the threads that are already sold and done. I see threads of stuff sold or traded get bumped. As soon as the transaction is done delete the thread. That'll clear up some of the useless crap on this forum.

There should be a delete icon, for whoever made the thread, instead of marking it sold, <DELETE>. Just a thought. Rod.

You could Red rep some of us like me till your dead and it would have little to no effect given the amount of green I and many others here have. Just sayin....

Also interesting to note that many of the ones complaining arent even contributing as club members at this point. It's a free site be glad it's here period especially when your not contributing $$$ even in a small way.

No comments about the cue , pm for any info
and no threads for cues on eBay sell them there or here but not both at the same time

I like your idea

Great idea Rod,
Only 1 problem. At this time OP's can't even find the "Edit" button. This is one of the best lines of thought I've read so far.Delete SOLD items.

I don't want anybody telling my friends, myself, or anybody what to do, that is not an official moderator appointed by the owners of AZ Billiards.
If you don't like what someone is doing then report the post, but we don't need to encourage a bunch of forum cop wannabes.
Poolplayers typically do not like cops & rats, so just let the mods do their jobs.
Some of the nonsense does need to be sifted from the WFS, and when these is a scammer around we need to get involved, but I will continue to call out the forum cop wannabes.

I like the idea of sub-forums like Cues - $1000 and up - $500-$1000 - $100-$500 and $100 or less or something and the same would go for a Cases sub-forum with price ranges. We could also have a sub-forum for DVD/Books, Accessories and Misc too and of course a Wanted and Trade sub-forums. I think it would be easier to find what we are all looking for and reduce clutter also. It probably would not be too hard to do but not sure where all the old threads would go, maybe into an archive or something.

Great point....

-I think that rule #1 should be that if you are not a paid member, you should not be allowed to b****...

There are plenty of alternatives to AZ for those of you who don't think this forum works for you...JimboArmy, Lee Pepper's site, several others...try them, if you like, but people tend to come back to AZ for a reason.

The forum is here as a convenience for all of us. AZ management has made it abundantly clear in the past that they would just as soon see this particular sub-forum (Wanted/For Sale) go away, due to the many headaches that it has caused them in the past. Other than the small Club Member's fee, they make nothing off the forum...maybe their click count goes up, but not that much.

Adding new sub-forums, rules, regulations, etc would not solve anything if we, as a whole, can't follow the rules that are already in place.

I also think that threads such as this one should be started in the Main Forum section. Nothing is for sale here, and in the Main Forum, we might get other opinions from members who are not regular "Wanted/For Sale" thread viewers, and their perspective might be different.

This will be my LAST year as a Club Member if changes are NOT made to this forum! What advantage is it to be a club member when 90% of the forum abusers are non club members...and they put us at a disadvantage since most club members abide by the rules?

This has been said many times in the past. I even said it myself before. Maybe if this was done, we wouldn't have to worry about upgrading servers to makes the site faster. If the sellers deleted the thread after it was sold, there would be half the threads on here to clutter up the system. Entirely too much shit on here taking up space. The system is a pack rat as it stands right now. Kinda like that relative that keeps every tincan and shoestring case one day, it might be needed. There shouldn't be any threads over 1 year old. But you can look back 5, 6, 7 or 8 years. Maybe farther. Don't know. There are any things that can e done that aren't. Guess some just don't like progress.

But I do wish to thank the mods for the site. It is a good one. Too bad it isn't a great one.

How about splitting up the forum and having two threads one for those who Want To Buy vs Want To Sell?

Or maybe as others have suggested a Accesories Wanted / For Sale.

I would also be an advocate of only allowing "Members" to sell meaning some kind of fee paid ($5) per item listed (not sure if that creates liability to the site) as one would typically be required to pay if you posted something for sale in the classifieds. This may also help gaurd against fraud as one would have to pay via electronic payment and leave some kind of audit trail.

Another option on the deletesubject is how about an automatic purge of stuff that is older than 2yrs in the Wanted / For sale forum? The historical data is useless as most sellers go back and edit their threads by removing the price and some times pics. So the maintenance of that data is useless in my opinion.

Ditto this is definitely the best site concerning pool.

Just my two cents

I am all for Club membership IF there is a benefit to it. And to the comments about the site owners closing the F/S section. I think overall site traffic would tank if this were done. I would be on AZ maybe 25% as much as I am now if there wasn't a FS section.

Make 2 for sale sections.

1 for club members
1 for non club members.

This would move 90% of the crap to the non paying forum.

Agree. Also pretty sure it would move >90% of the sales to the non paying side too. Unless you think that the club members would all just sell to each other. Somehow I'm not seeing that in my crystal ball, though.

You could still sell to non paying members, but they just cant post their items for sale there. You wouldn't limit your buyers at all.

Ian

i pay up for a club membership now and then just to support the site. i rarely offer anything for sale, but would pay up if i planned to sell a few items.

club membership requirement to post in the wfs forum would be ok with me and possibly weed out some scammers.

In the german forum there are 3 different threads in the "Wanted/For sale" section.

The first one is for private sellers, no comments are allowed only pms, no bumps by the ot but he/she can modified the original post with price updates, the mods make the bumps and once the item is sold the thread is closed.

The second one is for "wanted" items. Comments and bumps are allowed and when the ot finds what he/she is searching the thread is closed.

The third one is for professional sellers.

It seems that works.
