Am i the only one tired of "hustlin'" wear and thugged out hats at prestegious events

Reply

Some people have class, and reflect it, and the rest don't.

And, seriously, some people just don't know how to dress. They don't know which styles, colors, and hues go together and which don't. And some people just don't care what they wear.

I saw a woman in Oklahoma once that had red pants on with orange T-shirt.

And whats up with the girls with the muffin-tops!? Can they cover some of that up please!

I am getting so sick and tired of going to open events and Derby City and seeing every other shortstop decked out in hustlin wear, sweatpants and dirty nikes. Not to mention the thug hats or hustlin hats with the gold sticker on the bill. This kind of stuff is just making pool look stupid.. I dont care how much flak i get for this, the dress codes at these events need to be more strictly enforced. I am not saying 3 piece suit, but put on some dress pants and something with a collar. I cannot stand seeing people playing in socks, athletic shorts and an XL "hustlin'" t shirt, it really makes me doubt the future of the game. The attitudes of these particular people usually reflects what they are wearing as well. I am in no way a prude, but some of the vile stuff i have heard come out of peoples mouths at crowded tournament venues is shameful.

I know a lot dont agree with this, and maybe im wrong, but i think we all owe it to pool to clean up. I realize most players arent like this, but that group that reflect this are killing pool.

I personally do not believe this group
of people make pool look stupid.

I do believe that they make themselves
look stupid, and then demonstrate it
with their actions and language.

You get some GREEN in the Rep Department from me.

So what would you dress code be?

I personally would like to see a DRESS CODE MINIMUM of:

Closed Toed Shoes with Socks. No FLIP FLOPS or Sandals

Long Pants, or Jeans, or Bib Overalls

Shirts much have a Collar, Long or Short Sleeves is O.k.

No Writing on Shirts, or Caps, or Visors that is offensive. NO T-Shirt, or TANK TOPS.

Clothing, & Foot Wear must be Clean, and not Ragged, or Full of Holes.

Like the word F, and if that has to be Splained further I will.

Yep...

and that TAPOUT gear has done nothing for MMA and the UFC.

(Prefers Stroke-it wear, but believes anybody that invests time. money and products into our game deserves a  )

Don't forget the straw hat with the piece of hay stickin out cher mouth!

If we could enforce this new dress code, we would need a lot more spittoons at pool halls!

I see your point. The thing is that is the way many young people dress today. I am torn on the dress code. One part of me says that people should look presentable and the other part says no one is watching anyway so why not let the characters be themselves.

I would rather see a kid in a Hustlin shirt be himself and be entertaining than see two robots in golf shirts trading run outs. As with most things I think somewhere in the middle is the answer. I have seen some events with dress codes that were IMO overly restrictive bordering on ridiculous and some where anything goes.

The U.S. Open is one thing, a Derby one pocket match on table 78 out in the back 40 at 11 AM on a Tuesday is another. To one person that kid in the Hustlin shirt and sideways hat is a disgrace to another kid it could be "That guy dresses like me and he is into that, I will check it out" where if everyone is dressed like a PGA convention all the time he may never take a second look.

Balance in all things.

Some sports fans wear jerseys to support their football team, or t-shirts, hats, etc... I know a guy that has EVERYTHING from head to toe every single day logoed with the Steelers.
Poolwear comes and goes in fads, deadstroke, runout, Hustlin USA, Stroke it wear and whatever else in certain geographic areas.
People choose to announce their choice in sports the same way in pool.
Hustlin USA, used to be a west coast thing, that kind of let people know where you were coming from when you went to events.
Now it's become a "clique"thing across the planet. It identifies us as a group, whether you have the ability to Hustle or not, you still have the latest thing to wear, to "look cool!" lol
It also makes it alot easier to get games.
You're wearing it, you don't have to go through the hassle of trying to find action. It's all around you-
Personally, I like my Hustlin Usa, golf and Polo shirt....

But if it's a way to show support of those who are showing support for our sport, I'm going to do my part to support them, as well!

I'd much rather be wearing it than a "potshots" logo with weed and a pooltable for a design...lol

I post below. Neat, Cleand, and Professional Pool IMHO would have a better image.

Plus this thread would have never started.

There is a lot of truth to this post, and as i said, i dont think my views are right, they are just the way i feel.

But to be honest, about the kid who sees someone in a hustlin shirt and hat and feels things in common....i would rather have a PGA bore guy see everyone in PGA shirts take interest in our sport than another little gremlin that runs around asking people for money and screaming about who they beat.

Hustlin gear in and of itself is fine, the majority of consumers just abuse it and dress like wannabe thugs.

Having been a boxer for a large portion of my life, and over the last year making a transition towards MMA, i can say tapout wear makes me want to puke, as i only ever see wannabe tough guys wearing it.

this is a true statment, but.....sales are solid and that is a good thing, wanna-be's are the bread basket of the rich.

Never was a truer statement said, fatboy. I know these things deep down, but have a hard time accepting them because of how sick the wannabes can make me!

Call them wanna bes if you want. They are the ones that pay the bills. At some level every fan is a wanna be. Some companies know how to market this better than others. Like ...oh say...Nike.

The IPT had a dress code and professional pool didn't seem to change to the general public, because people were not exposed to it. When players had to wear tuxedos at certain tournaments in the 80's, it did not seem to change the games image too much. I don't disagree with dress codes at certain times or events, but who really cares if someone has their hat on sideways and baggy pants. Hustling wear does seem kind of cliche at times, but it is marketed to pool players and many seem to like them. To the younger generation of players an old guy with his pants pulled up to his chest may look just as goofy to them. I can think of a few players that I have seem act very rude and abrasive, and they were wearing long pants, a collered shirt, and clean shoes!:frown:

It isnt about being a wannabe fan, i have no problem with that. It is walking around with a chip on your shoulder when the only fight you were ever in was in 3rd grade, and trying to call out the world by wearing a combat sport shirt. This is the impression most of these fools give me. It is a generalization of course, i know not ALL of them are like that, but the numbers seem high.

My feelings are, JMHO, if there is a spectator fee then perhaps there should be a dress code, not an unreasonable code, but something that works. If its a freebie for spectators then let em play in whatever they want and what they are comfortable with. And I agree with the new generation looks at dress a bit differently than us ol schoolers, but what the heck, we did the same when we were younger.

I do agree that there should be dress codes at alot of events, but the DCC is definately not one of them. I'm sorry, but when i'm up for 20-30 hours at a time, I want to be comfortable and dont want to have to go back to my hotel room to change 2-3 times a day. As for the Hustlin shirts, I dont really see the bad thing about them. You seem to be talking about the young guys who act like asses and are obnoxious. The problem is, those kids could be wearing a beautiful Armani 3-piece designer suit and they're still going to act like that. Dont let a generalization that like rule your opinions on people at these events.
