Amazing restoration by RAT Cues

I had an old Palmer model 6 cue that I really loved, but it was in pretty rough condition. I sent it off to Ryan Theewan (RAT Cues) at Muellers, and he did a restoration of it for me. The results were truly amazing. I forgot to take very many before shots, but here is a composite showing the detail of the breakdown processment of the restoration, as well as a small composite of the cue after restoration.

All I can say, is that Ryan did the job of a magician. I can assure you that this old Palmer NEVER looked as good as it does today. If Ryan was a cosmetic surgeon doing restorations on some of the old "beauties" in Hollywood, and the results showed this level of improvement, he would be a wealthy person, indeed.

Ryan, many thanks to you for the amazing work. I have another one that I will probably send you shortly.

I will post more detailed "after" pix later.

Joe

Ryan did a Schon for me , I never owned when new, but I think it probably looks better now. Jim

Thanks for your kind words. I'm not really an artist or a magician, just passionate about cues.

Thanks for all the comments, folks. It is a truly gorgeous cue. I have another Original by Palmer that I am preparing to send to Ryan, also. This one came out so well, I have to have the other one done. I took it down to the pool room today. It not only looks great, it plays great, too. All the folks had to come over, have a look-see, and hit a few balls with it. Really fantastic.

Well, I sent my other Titlist forearm Palmer Original to Ryan a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to get it back. I will post photos when it arrives.

I just finished up a bunch of cues so yours is in the cart, ready to reworked. Do you want me to post pics as I go?

Richard Black Cue

All -

Ryan did a great job on my old Richard Black cue. As Bama noted, it probably looks better now then it EVER did.

I do have a question for Ryan, do you prefer doing these "refinish and restorations" to building?

I think I would love to see these oldies but goodies come back to life!

Thanks again.

Your friend in pool,

Ken

It really depends. I try to balance the repairs, spec cues, and custom builds. Too much of any one.......

Each rebuild/refinish is unique and I like that. I'm a problem solver, by nature, so to get a cue that is either badly warped or badly damaged, presents a new challenge. That passion, to not only make it playable, but to keep it playing as close to original as possible, drives me. I also love giving a cue a new life.

Building cues is also fun and challenging. Its not so much the construction, which I still love doing, but it coming up with the concept. Picking woods, veneers, colors, wraps, everything..... I like visualizing the cue and then making it happen.

(I love what I do WAY too much)
