An Open Discussion about an improper Banning

John Schmidt

Palmer. I am sure that you read the bit of research that Watchez did for John on a few of the Pros that used to be here. Not all but some.

John said that made sense and maybe he had read into some of the hype wrongly.

The majority of the pros were gone before I joined the site, so I have no idea on what was said etc.

Re Pros being actually driven from the site. The only experience that I have with recent events, is when someone shows up looking for sponsorship. None of those threads have gone over well. I could read into that and assume that maybe there were some bad experiences in the past with sending players money. Maybe, maybe not.

But the use of the word, Driven, conjures up something that is most likely not close to the truth. I see AZ members lining up and throwing rocks at the pros. Maybe Words take the place of Rocks. But then you can remember the old chant we used to say, "Sticks and stones may hurt my bones, but words will never hurt me".

I remember having words with John Schmidt over something, must have been important then but I can't remember what it was now! We went at it hammer and tongs for awhile, maybe a day or two. I didn't treat him any different than I would have treated anyone else in the circumstances and best I recall he had more supporters than I had.

He was one of the more mature people I have had words with on here and we buried any ill feelings when we were done. I always sincerely wish him well. Overall he seems pretty classy. He came and went three or four times after that but he is focused on other things than this forum.

I think the real deal is that the people doing are busy enough doing they don't spend much time talking about it on a computer. I drew on a computer eight to ten hours a day five days a week for years. I didn't come home and play computer games, I had played enough games on a computer for my paycheck!

I worked in retail management, which equates to "people" management for a lot of years. In that time I managed 1000s of people, which means 1000s of different personalities, 1000s of different temperments, 1000s of different moods and attitudes etc. And the only way to be successful doing so is to have a clear set of rules established, and to follow them and enforce them fairly and equally across the board. You can not change or manage someones personality, but you can manage their behavior.
The rules are there to manage that behavior with progressive discipline, meaning first offense would consist of a warning (the company I worked for had two levels of warning, the first was a verbal, second a written that goes in the personel file) with a clear explanation of why they are being warned, and an explanation of further disciplinary action should another offense occur. For most people, this was usually enough. Second offense would be a suspension, again with a clear explanation of what rule was broken, and what will happen should it occur again. This step was usually enough to make anyone who actually cared about their job to cease any bs. The third offense was termination.
A similar method can be utilized very effectively on an internet forum, in fact it is used on several other forums, but there needs to be a clear set of rules first, then they need to be enforced without passion or prejudice. Just consistantly and fairly. It takes away most accusations of moderator power trips, and creates an environment of productivity where people can post without jackasses and trolls attacking them.
Here are the current forum rules....

Three strikes, you're out.

Does anyone think these rules are enforced in a fair and consistant manner, much less complete? I certainly dont.

Thanks, pj, I'll certainly keep that in mind.

Talk about "insecurities", you constantly post pics of yourself and not only that but pics of you that are older than my shoes. You always include good looking girls who are probably in their 50's or 60's by now. And you talk about someone else's "self-esteem" or "insecurities"? Get a grip dude, you ain't 20 anymore.

On the other hand, it's good to see your inferiority complexes have a healthy outlet for expression.

the Rolling Stones and Beatles were influenced by them.

Yes, yes I did.....tonight anyway. ;)

I didn't realize the Rolling Stones and Beatles were influenced by them.

Did ya get the cash? Was it a stellar field? Did anyone ever tell ya that you look like one of the Everly Bros in the avatar pic you used for this post.

I disagree strongly!

Lou is not one of my favorites and in some ways earned the ribbing. But, the forum is not the place to battle! Period!

Battle via pm if you must! The forum is not the "arena/battlefield "it is rude and not fair to members not involved in the conflict!!!

Mike Left it up so all can see what not to do! But, it not being edited or deleted let's the venom of that post humiliate Lou. It may be worth it to spidey to use one of his 3 strikes?

But, Lou should have every right to request its removal or edit!

Bottom line is you don't have to like everyone, but we all must be respectful and civilized.

Spidey is showing a propensity to being uncivilized and incapable of remaining. I hope he comes around to being a better member of the community!

Lou, is biased and transparent. His crew he will side with regardless of the issues and facts. They stick together and Lou is the most vocal defender of the crews agenda. A great press Secretary!

I have a crew?!

who knew

What is amusing is that right after Lou says JAM needs to have thicker skin, he asks about having links removed to the 'cartoons' Spider made about him.

The cartoons have been a part of his sig block for what? A couple of years? And I never said a word.

Unlike JAM, I didn't leave, threaten to leave, and if Mike hadn't graciously offered to take them down, I'd still be here.

So, it took a couple of years for your skin to thin?

I hope you find the time to answer my question

My bad Watchez I thought you joking and I walked away from the thread after my last post. I can't copy or paste anything..... It's above my skill level lol. I've never even looked at the rules, I've been here long enough to know about where the line is at and I crossed it a few years back.
I do however think this thread was a good idea because it gave everyone a chance to have a say about what bugged them most, whether it makes a difference or not. We know in some cases action was taken and no matter how I feel about it....you can't please everyone. In the threads where the baiting goes on I'll just report it and ignore the thread if it's getting under my skin.
Good luck with the mod thing

I don't know who ONB is, but he's definitely a friend of SJD, and that list has to be a short one. ;)

I know exactly who he is. It's not PJ. I promise you that. If you read onepoketdot org, it's plain to tell Cowboy Dennis. But who cares..

That was my first thought, but whoever, he's definitely an SJD supporter.

Put me on that short list.
I like what SJD and ONB bring to this forum.
...and about 70% of what CJ brings also.

If all three stopped posting, AZ would be a much poorer place.
