There was some pictures of some of her missing cues, but I didn't see any of her cues on e-bay. Yet. A police officer started the thread after the theft.

Does anyone know if they caught the guy that broke in to Annie O's apartment, (while she was at her funeral) and robbed cash and cues.

This is one guy who deserves to be lynched when caught. And I thought I'd never say that.

I am not familiar with "Annie O." I tried to do a Google and then a search on this forum, but came up empty.

What happened? :(

She was a cue maker, we called her Annie Oakley, but her real name was Anne Mayes. A pretty good player also. She died last year of Cancer I believe.

Ah Snap!

Annie died?!?!? :sorry:  Damn. Jam, from the research I've done, (and from actually speaking to her...) she used to be on the women's pro circuit at one time. From there, she's been making custom cues and laminitated shafts. Never used them, but I heard that they were good though, especially the shafts.

Oh Yeah, "lynched" probably isn't the right word to be used.

One to the head is my way of thinking. Johnnyt

Annie was from Houston and yes a cue maker.

We had our little battles, but she was always there and loved supporting ladies events by donating cues and always playing. For the most part she was upbeat and anxious to help, but I can't help but believe her last bit of time here was just absolutely horrible. SUffering is such a horrible, horrible thing.

From what I gathered, someone broke in her shop and apartment during her funeral and made off with many valuable things including some pretty high end cues.

She and Belinda Campos were good friends and I know Belinda went through hell with this and was sickened by the theft and other dramas that took place as the end neared. Belinda was there for her and I know it meant a lot to Anne.

The last couple of years of her life Anne devoted to learning to play 3 cushion and spsoke passionately about it. I always thought her enthusiasm about it was very funny. I like to see people have fun.

Like Jay suggests, I would flip the switch on whoever robbed her children of their birthright.

As many of you heard, Cuemaker Anne Mayes passed away on Nov 6th. I am saddened to report more bad news. Right after her death, her apartment was broken into and all of her cues and a computer were stolen.

Below in the photo are some of the cues that were taken from Annie O?s Pro Shop. There were customers? finished cues that were also stolen that we have no documentation of, so please keep your eyes and ears open. All of the money Anne received from the fund raising efforts was also taken from her apartment, totaling nearly 5k in cash.

If you have any information regarding these thefts which total in excess of 20k, please contact: Officer C. Parris, Houston Police Department @ 713.735.2062.

I think it was AZ's own, akaTrigger, who started the thread with the pictures of the stolen cues. You can find that thread here.

Horribly sad story about how low some people will go. Hopefully justice will be had in one way or another for the scum responsible for the robbery.

Annie Mayes was a woman pool cue maker and one time professional pool player.

There was a post on this forum describing where her shop got broken into and cues stolen shortly after she passed away due to a battle with cancer.

JAM,

Anne was also a frequent contributor to RSB about 10-12 years ago.

In addition to making cues, Anne played on the WPBA Classic Tour and was ranked as high as 23rd. I believe she was also involved with the Hunter Classic Tour as a player and coordinator. Anne edited and published Billiard and Dart news, and was the VNEA coordinator in Houston.

She never wasted a minute out of any day of her life. Her passion and energy is irreplaceable. I hope that they are able to find the missing cues and bring the people responsible to justice.

AnnieO

Annie also published a local small billiards newletter in the Houston area quite a few years back.

I am trying to remember the name of that new letter - but forgot my Ginkobiloba this morning.

Annie gladly spent time discussing cue making techniques, her own CNC setup system she put together and taught pool lessons.

She had a very nice, small funeral that I attended.

She definately is missed.

She wasn't a coordinator of the Hunter Classics Tour, but she was a member. Her and Belinda started their own tour but it didn't go on but for a year or so.

Kim White was also a very close friend and Kim is the one who found her apartment/shop broken into and most everything stolen. Kim was livid! as was everyone else once the story started to get through the pool community!

As far as I know, the cues have not yet been recovered.

And yes, I started the thread - it wasn't a police officer.

I still hope the cues are found someday. It's a sad turn of events to an already sad passing. :(

I didn't shoot with her cues, but I heard they are awesome!! She did have a lot of passion for pool and people.
