JAM said:I am not familiar with "Annie O." I tried to do a Google and then a search on this forum, but came up empty.
What happened?![]()
shoutout33 said:Annie died?!?!? :sorry:Damn. Jam, from the research I've done, (and from actually speaking to her...) she used to be on the women's pro circuit at one time. From there, she's been making custom cues and laminitated shafts. Never used them, but I heard that they were good though, especially the shafts.
Oh Yeah, "lynched" probably isn't the right word to be used.
jay helfert said:She was a cue maker, we called her Annie Oakley, but her real name was Anne Mayes. A pretty good player also. She died last year of Cancer I believe.
poolrod said:There was some pictures of some of her missing cues, but I didn't see any of her cues on e-bay. Yet. A police officer started the thread after the theft.

There was a post on this forum describing where her shop got broken into and cues stolen shortly after she passed away due to a battle with cancer.

As many of you heard, Cuemaker Anne Mayes passed away on Nov 6th. I am saddened to report more bad news. Right after her death, her apartment was broken into and all of her cues and a computer were stolen.
Below in the photo are some of the cues that were taken from Annie O?s Pro Shop. There were customers? finished cues that were also stolen that we have no documentation of, so please keep your eyes and ears open. All of the money Anne received from the fund raising efforts was also taken from her apartment, totaling nearly 5k in cash.
If you have any information regarding these thefts which total in excess of 20k, please contact: Officer C. Parris, Houston Police Department @ 713.735.2062.
